i have a college degree. and i have three jobs.

it sure would be nice if at some point, i could find a job in my degree that will actually support me, but i haven't found one yet.

you seem to be rather out of touch with reality.

Yeah, calling being a single parent to three kids, one of which is mentally challenged, "a job" is the craziest thing I've ever heard. surreal

BUSH: HOLDING THREE JOBS 'UNIQUELY AMERICAN'
Tues Feb 8 2005 9:27:01 ET

Last Friday when promoting social security reform with 'regular' citizens in Omaha, Nebraska, President Bush walked into an awkward unscripted moment in which he stated that carrying three jobs at a time is 'uniquely American.'

While talking with audience participants, the president met Mary Mornin, a woman in her late fifties who told the president she was a divorced mother of three, including a 'mentally challenged' son.

The President comforted Mornin on the security of social security stating that 'the promises made will be kept by the government.'

But without prompting Mornin began to elaborate on her life circumstances.

Begin transcript:

MS. MORNIN: That's good, because I work three jobs and I feel like I contribute.

THE PRESIDENT: You work three jobs?

MS. MORNIN: Three jobs, yes.

THE PRESIDENT: Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that. (Applause.) Get any sleep? (Laughter.)

Developing...

Filed By Matt Drudge...

Yeah, it's fanfuckingtastic that a woman working three jobs just to make ends meet is "uniquely American." We should all be proud.

The president should stick to his fucking scripts.

That last line made me laugh out loud. So thanks - I needed that.

You guys are looking at it from a "glass half-empty" perspective. I prefer to see it as, jobs are so plentiful, some people have three of them.

Hahahaha!

You're not really an actual person, are you? You're some character Larry David invented, admit it.

Nice try.
Even if everyone had an adequate education the fact would still remain that there are not enough jobs to go around. Perhaps the answer doesn't lie with the low paying jobs but rather the cost of living. There may be an easier way if this was what was focused on.
Before you answer forget about trying to make a moral judgement. What's done is done. Try come up with a solution to this problem, and working three jobs to get by is a problem in a country with as much wealth as the U.S.A.

You remind me of one of those guys who sneers at the chronically homeless and tells them " to get a job". Not that you would likely hire a homeless person in a million years.

" A firm believer in supporting those in need" - your comments totally argue to the contrary, unless you are talking about not being in favour of people starving to death.

I don't think you even have a clue.

Kind of hard to do when you're WORKING THREE JOBS.

lack of planning on her part doesn't constitute an emergency on anyone else. And yes, President Bush's statement is unprofessional and lame.

Wow, you are a real asshole.

Wow... what a glaringly stupid comment.

Now... I'm curious.
How do you propose she pays for this education? School isn't cheap. She's already working three jobs just to get by. Where do you think that extra money is coming from? And how about the time? Three jobs probably keeps her busy as it is. Getting a higher education isn't just a walk in the park.

Man oh man. Excuses, excuses, excuses. My mother worked two jobs when I was growing up to support three kids while she was single. She didn't have a high school education, but she knew what was facing her for years to come. She struggled for some time and took night and early morning classes to finish her education. It opened more opportunities for her and she was able to get a better job that allowed her more time for her family. If you want it, it's there but you will have to work for it.

a) You have no evidence that this woman DOESN'T have a high school degree.
b) Remember, this woman also had a mentally challenged child. Are you saying you're retarded? confused

You're thinking way too hard in this.

You're not thinkng enough.
