Just fire up your newsreader and head on over to the group uk.legal. However based on the message ID included in the URL up there I'm not certain what relevancy it may have.

you should draw your boss's attention to the Information Commissioner's
guidance:

<URL:http://ico-cms.amaze.co.uk/DocumentUploads/the%20employment%20practices%20data%20protection%20code%20part%203%20monitoring%20at%20work%20supplementary%20guidance.pdf>

It also makes you wonder why Google removed it. surreal

I might have mangled the url when copy/pasting it. mad

The relevent bit is the ICs guidance. I love RFC compliant URLs, they don't work with most software. smile

The work thing is the work thing. The company pays me to work and they bought the computer, pay for the internet connection etc, they have the right to watch what I do and can my ass.

The FBI, police and the federal government however have no right ti spy on my in that manner without a fucking warrant. Someone mentioned people who still have their vcr clocks flashing 12:00 trying to make laws about technology. Well the issue is bigger than that. We have 59million idiots in this country that thought Bush was a good President, do you think ANY of them are smart enough to elect people smart enough to write these laws properly? NO.

Don't forget though that under the USA Patriot Act that the federal government now has the ability to negate your rights of privacy if for any reason they believe you are involved in "terrorist" organizations.

The use of sneak and peak searches would cover the use of any keylogger, since it has been ruled that they also cover any and all phone taps.

Now I know your saying, "but that only hurts the terrorists."

Which, well, we all know is far from the truth.
anyone can be a terrorist these days,
like those damn glass pipe makers in Eugene that got popped using the Patriot Act.
Or the lawyer in Portland that they thought blew up the trains in Madrid.

The government has blanket protection to use this technology on any and all of it's citizens as it sees fit. We just think it doesn't.
