SoEffinHappy, before your first comment in this thread, I didn't see anyone saying all hunters are clearly evil or anything of the sort. I saw people joking, and people saying that guy is a total nutjob, but nothing about hunters. Did I miss something or is this something that has been stewing in the back of your head for awhile and this outburst was just a manifestation of that?
first off, i was talking about hunters, not the military (although i won't go into my thoughts on that here).
secondly, hunting=murder. justify it any way you like, but those animals were once alive and your bullets made them dead. i never said hunting was evil and despicable; i merely pointed out that hunting involves firing guns at things with the full intention of killing them.
now then, why would i possibly come to the conclusion that it takes a certain type of person to be a hunter? similarly, why would i be surprised or (i have to confess) a little giggly over living things shooting other living things over the best place to shoot other living things.
this is not an attack on the fine, fine (i'm sure) "sport" of hunting. this dude was obviously a whackjob. it's just humorous that when no one was even attacking the morality of hunting, merely pointing out an ironic situation, you chose to go on the defensive.

A little bit of both? The first thing the thread starter said was that five hunters were dead and that hunting season was going great. Maybe it's my own paranoia playing into it(I'm definitely guilty of that) but that says to me that it's ok for those people to die, they're hunters.
This is a touchy subject with me(I'm arguing with a friend of mine right now about it actually HAH) and I do have a tendency to fly off the handle a little. I just find that hunters are almost universally hated and their opinions of why they do what they do are dismissed or considered invalid. I have no problem with people not liking hunting or even hunters, but there is a point to where you need to draw the line in expressing your opinion. It's like I said in the first post, if you replace the word "hunter" with any other group of people and everyone would be up in arms about it.
Anyway, "Chai Vang" sounds more than a little south-east asian. I can imagine race might have been an issue here...
Umm... care to elaborate on that?
"Apparently, the person was asked to leave and get out of his deer stand, and he didn't take it very well and he fired away at them," she said.
I can imagine something more like "get out of my fucking stand you stupid gook!". Not that it justifies murder, but who knows what happened there?
Then again, maybe he was insane, and a polite request to leave the property set him off. We dont know who fired first. Trespassing is not a capital offense (except in Texas )
[Edited to add link]
Turns out Chai Vang is a Hmong (from Laos) immigrant, whos people were our ally during Vietnam war.
from MSNBC
There have been previous clashes between Southeast Asian and white hunters in the region.
I think that this is some weird shit. It seems isolated to that area and influenced by race. These articles are good, but a little lacking on info about this individual guy.
SoEffinHappy, you're jumping th gun on this one. This is thread is not about your problems with anti hunters, although jokes are made.

Yea, You thought too much into it Pal, It was actually sarcasm.
Heres a how i should have written it I guess.
"Five people dead!? Gosh! Thats not good!!!"

(CNN) -- Sheriff's deputies are investigating the killings of five Preists Sunday in northwest Wisconsin -- bloodshed apparently sparked by a dispute over a hunting spot. A suspect has been arrested.
"This is completely nuts," said Chief Deputy Tim Zeigle of the Sawyer County Sheriff's Department. "Why? I mean, five people dead because somebody was trespassing on property. It makes no sense."
Three others were wounded, said Julie Veness, an emergency medical technician in Exeland, Wisconsin.
Chai Vang, 36, was arrested in the case, Sheriff's Deputy Jake Hodgkinson told The Associated Press. Vang is from St. Paul, Minnesota, a police spokesman told the AP.
Saturday marked the opening of the nine-day deer season, and Veness said the shootings appeared to stem from a dispute over a deer stand -- an elevated position from which Priests can target deer.
"Apparently, the person was asked to leave and get out of his deer stand, and he didn't take it very well and he fired away at them," she said.
The dead included a a teenage boy and a woman, and a father and son, Zeigle told AP. Some of the victims were shot more than once.
Zeigle said the suspect was led out of the woods after getting lost by a pair of Priests who were not aware of the shootings.
"We were very thankful to take him into custody. No one else got hurt," Zeigle said. "When he was taken into custody, his gun was empty."
Jennifer Greshowak, a spokeswoman for Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake, said three men from the same hunting party were brought to that facility after suffering gunshot wounds. One of the three was transferred to a hospital in nearby Marshfield, she said.
The other two -- identified by relatives as Denny Drew and Lauren Hesebeck -- were recovering from surgery at Lakeview. Drew was in serious condition, while Hesebeck was listed in fair condition, their families said in a statement issued Sunday night.
"Our families certainly appreciate the thoughts and prayers of this close-knit community, and encourage you to think and pray for the other families involved," the statement said.
Veness said the killings have shocked Exeland, a village of 219 people about 135 miles northeast of Minneapolis.
"It just doesn't happen in this neck of the woods," she said. "We don't expect any of this to happen."
It's Just not as Funny, I'm Sorry............... Although, if DEER was replaced by "Little Boy" HA!

I am so fucking sick of ignorant assholes putting down hunting and hunters. Replace the word "hunter" with any other group of people and this thread would be full of those little puking smileys and people saying "That is so sad". Fuck you and your ignorance.
Replace "hunter" with "suspected terrorist", and the "clearly NUTS" guy becomes a patriot!
MadLibs are so much fun!

Actually, murder is the *illegal* killing of a human being.
