why, it must be A MANDATE!

Kind of like the 49% Clinton mandate in 1996? Or the 42% mandate in 2000?

Did Clinton ever actually claim to have a mandate? I might be mistaken, but I don't think he did. And he certainly didn't govern like someone who believed he had a mandate, at least not for most of his presidency and certainly not during the latter part of it.

(Edited to add minor correction: I think you meant 1992 where you said 2000).

Why yes. he sure as shit did. Just ask Hillary.

Okay, I asked her, and she said "I have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. All I know is that Lindsey Lohan bitch best be stayin' away from my boo."

looks like the democrat won after all.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/12/23/washington.governor.ap/index.html

SEATTLE, Washington (AP) -- Democrat Christine Gregoire won the Washington governor's race by 130 votes out of 2.9 million ballots cast, according to final recount results announced Thursday from Seattle's King County, the last of the state's 39 counties to report.

Hundreds of belatedly discovered ballots helped extend what otherwise would have been just a 10-vote advantage for Gregoire in her topsy-turvy race with Republican Dino Rossi. The first ballot count showed Rossi winning by 261 votes, and a subsequent machine recount had Rossi winning by 42. The latest recount was conducted by hand.

the republicans are going to, of course, sue to try and change the results after the vote is certified on the 30th.

If you do a recount enough times, you're bound to get the result you want anyway. It would of been alot easier if they did it correctly the first time. Counting votes that they themselves tossed out to begin with, makes for things to appear even more complicated. I agree, there will surely be a suit brought. I've already seen a few things about it, having to do with changing procedure and state voting laws during an election. A suit is definitely coming.

My favorite quote from the above article:

"We're going to be going across the state demanding they make every vote count," Rossi spokeswoman Mary Lane said earlier Thursday.

And the really funny part is, she said it with a straight face... ooo aaa

During the initail recount WA GOP leader Chris Vance said “I’m now becoming very worried that the Democrats are going to try to turn this into Florida." So now every vote needs to be counted, eh?

Dispose of the shitheads lame ideas first, then go into a full personal attack, as that results in the most entertaining material.

Isn't it interesting how the party that claimed that Democrats should just accept the results in Florida for the good of the country in 2000 are fighting tooth and nail when things don't go their way this time around? Is anyone surprised? The level of hypocrisy in the GOP leadership is beyond all possible reckoning.

I don't see the difference. Don't the republicans want the original count to stand, just like they did in Florida? If I remember correctly they didn't want recounts in either one. If it's anything at all, wouldn't it be consistent, rather than hypocritical?

Speculation is already underway that if Dino Rossi does not win this one that he will be on good ground to run against Sen Maria Cantwell in 2006. It has been shown that he can grab almost half the vote!

OLYMPIA, Washington (AP) -- Republicans are demanding a list of voters in Washington state's most populous county as the party considers a court challenge of Democrat Christine Gregoire's razor-thin victory in the governor's race, officials said Monday.

A hand recount put Gregoire ahead by 130 votes out of 2.8 million cast. Previous counts had favored Republican Dino Rossi, an affluent former state senator.

I heard Rossi on the radio yesterday:"If the tables were reversed, and Christine won the first 2 counts and I won the hand recount, I'd still want another election."

Funny, I never heard him mention that when he was winning.
