perhaps we could go back to talking about how and when california could secede. that conversation was much more enjoyable.

Okay. My plan involves detonating thermonuclear devices at specific weak points along the San Andreas fault.

JK - I loves me some California. If there were no California, there would be no "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," and that's not a world I would want to live in.

In Texas it's legal to have sex with animals. However sodomy is still illegal.

Check your law book, when I lived there some guy was aressted for fucking his horse. The judge realized, it was legal. So he sentanced him to therapy. God bless the south.

Um, Mutex, dude, right on and everything, but maybe you shouldn't be talking about bestiality while your avatar pic has what appear to be two small brown bears protruding from your trousers like some sort of hardcore Cerberus from the x-rated version of The Golden Bough. I'm not suggesting anything here, but, you know, people talk ...

And hell yeah, Fuck the South. With all the fried food she's been eatin', there's some sweet meat on that big girl's badonkadonk.

People in the south are nice to the people they approve of. Unfortunately, my nephew, who happens to be gay, was not one of those people, and he now lives in New England because he got tired of getting his ass kicked.

There are some good people down here, but most of them are just self-righteous assholes. Not you and me, of course... wink

There's been a lot of angry, post-election wrangling over why Kerry may have lost and over whether states should secede, over how stupid people are for voting Republican, and over how Democrats should have geared their message so that it would appeal to Republican voters. I think that the last is the real problem: if Democrats had packaged their message in such a way that Republicans could have seen that Democrats had their best interests at heart, Republicans could not have helped but voted Democratic.

For example, the Democrats could have run a TV spot like the following in the states along the Mississippi river and would certainly won them handily as a result:

{A bit of quietly patriotic music fades out as the screen fades in to a slightly overweight white guy standing in a cornfield and smiling affably. The guy nods to the camera and begins to speak earnestly to the viewers}

You know, they say that Republicans just don't care about the environment the way that Democrats do, and I can see why they'd say that. The Republicans under Bush have worked to weaken drinking water standards, while Democrats have argued that these standards should be strengthened.

Hi, folks, my name is FatDavid8. I'm just here to tell you that every time you drink tap water, you're drinking my poo, poo potentially laced with harmful microbial pathogens like FatD Coli. That's right: every time I flush the toilet, a heapin' helpin' of my poo juice, heavy with partially digested black beans and corn salsa from the burritos that I eat at least three times a week, flows from my toilet to a nearby river that runs down to the Mississippi and into your taps.

This November, tell the fat cats and silver spoons in Washington that you do care about the environment, that you want to halt the spread of FatD Coli, that you don't want your children to drink poo. This November, vote Democrat.

{more nodding and smiling as the picture fades out and the patriotic music fades back in}

Honestly, how could that not persuade Republicans?

this thread is TOTAL shit. puke mad

people should stop fucking stereotyping... what next? blame the jews for the elections. its so fucked up. i'm southern, and i love being southern. I'm also a bleeding-heart radical, and I hate bush. I realize there are a shitload of assholes down here, but I'd defend them before i'd ever let anyone piss on my home. there are plenty of rednecks up north AND in canada! and there are plenty of poor, oppressed, left, non-white, queer, atheist, good people in the south. jimmy carter is from my hometown. so stop bitching. this website is no different from the hate that is spewed about how all muslims are responsible for 9/11.

nullSoutherners aren't all ignorant and we don't all think alike.

And don't talk about atl rap. outkast trumps master p any day whatever ARRR!!!

I've said it before, and I'll probably say it again:

Granted, the page linked to in the original post is rather hate-filled, but the thread itself is pretty benign. It basically boils down to a bunch of people being amazed at the level of hatred apparent in that rant, a bunch of people speculating about the feasability of a separation and the logistics involved, and a few other people being funny.

Then people started talking about bestiality for some reason, but really, most of the thread is very tongue-in-cheek.

In other words, get mad at the author of the page originally linked to...not the thread. wink

Um...what? surreal

Have you looked at a map lately? Texas is as far south as any state in the union, with the exception of Florida and Hawaii. Or a history book? Because it was also an enthusiastic part of the confederacy (not that that's anything to be even remotely proud of). And regarding culture, Texas isn't as "deep south" as states like Mississippi or Alabama, but we still share a lot culturally with the Old South states.

You know, I used to get upset when people would stereotype southerners/Texans, and then, at some point during the debates, I heard my 9,343,867th repetition of the phrase "liberal senator from Massachusetts."

Yeah, two wrongs don't make a right, but at the same time, you reap what you sow. The right-wing echo tunnel has made so much hay out of stereotyping not just liberals, but people from the north, that some of it was bound to start splashing back on them. And let's face it, there are grains of truth in those stereotypes - southerners, like it or not, are generally more intolerant, not as smart, more rabidly religious and more stubborn than people in the north. This is not someting that it makes me proud to admit, because I've lived in Texas all my life, but it's true.

How about this story in the news today...

LaFAYETTE, Georgia (AP) -- A former crematory operator pleaded guilty Friday to dumping 334 bodies and giving the families of the deceased cement dust instead of ashes.
Ray Brent Marsh, 31, allegedly stopped performing cremations at the Tri-State Crematory in Noble, Georgia, in 1997, when he took over the family business. After an anonymous tip in 2002, authorities found more than 300 corpses on the property -- scattered in the woods, in buildings, behind Marsh's house and crammed into burial vaults. Marsh also is expected to plead guilty to corpse abuse in Tennessee...
