I despise Bush, but will vote my conscience. So far, Kerry has not proven to me that he represents a remotely liberal agenda. . .which, I admit, is tough for him to do, as he is running on the Democratic ticket (not exactly a liberal haven).

This is not the time to fuck around. I took a vow when i turned 18 to NEVER vote for any Democrat or any republican until we had a viable 3rd party ion this counrty. I am brekaing that vow this year and will vote a straight democrat ticket. There is soemthing downright evil going on in the USA right now and I will not stand by and let it happen. I will fight, despite the sacrifices I will have to make. I can vote for my 3rd 4th or 5th parties another time. This year is for real. The republicans have hijacked any and all elections they can and in Texas they hijacked the entire electoral process. They are slowly but sure seizing control of this nation and they will not let go of it once they have it. I saw what happened in Cali, and Mass and Texas, and it is conspiracy. they have inserted candidates and manipulated and lied and I will do what I can to stop them.

And fuck that liberal paranoia argument. I'm not paranoid, just not brainwashed.

Do the right thing!
Hold your nose and vote for Kerry!

I agree, totally. I changed my registration from Green to Democrat. This is the most important election in my lifetime.

I'm in with you guys. As much as I hate to say it, I'm voting for the lesser of 2 evils. In a perfect world, I would vote for someone I believe in. This time around, I think it is much more important to get Bush out of office.

Let's just hope we're in the majority in Nov.

ha like that mattered last election
whatever

ACtually if you think about it, if you live in Alaska you should be more excited to vote than if you live in Texas, California or New York. Check it out. According to the FEC Alaska has 3 electoral votes, Hawaii has 4 electoral votes, New York has 31 and Texas has 34. According to statistics from the 2000 election Alaska had 473,000 registered voters who voted at a rate of 60%, Hawaii had 637,000 registered voters who voted at a rate of 57%, New York had 11,262,000 registered voters who voted at a rate of 62% and Texas had 10,267,000 registered voters who voted at a rate of 62% (I rounded them off just a tad.) If we assume an equivalent population growth rate and an identical voter participation rate for the 2004 election, that means that Alaska has approximately 94600 participating registered voters per electoral vote, Hawaii has 90770, New York has 225240 and Texas has 187220. That means that if you're in Hawaii or Alaska your vote is roughly worth twice the vote of someone from Texas and almost 2.5 times the vote of someone living in New York. So think about it that way - your vote is actually more important than the vote of someone living in a more populated state.

And am I the only person in the US voting for John Kerry because, well, I like the guy? I think he has a good senate record, he seems to have a lot of integrity (for a politician) and I think he'll do a good job leading the country.

No, you're not. I think the biggest failure on the part of Democrats or the Left or whatever is that, this late in the game, so many are still running an "anybody but Bush" campaign. I hear people all the time making excuses for Kerry and saying, "I don't really like him, but he's better than Bush." It's like people are afraid to admit they like him.

If the Democrats want to pull ahead in the polls before the election, they have to cut out this habit candidate-deprication and start talking (whether they believe it or not) about what a great guy Kerry is and what he can do for the country.

Of course, part of the problem is that the Kerry campaign is too busy parrying blows about his Vietnam record to get their message out, but anybody who claims John Kerry doesn't have a plan or doesn't have a strong position or is weak on defense, hasn't listened to a word he says and certainly didn't watch his acceptance at the convention.

Please, Democrats. Stop hating Bush and start paying attention to your own candidate if you want a victory in November.

The thing about votes counting more is very interesting. But seriously about Kerry? I'm from Mass and he's ok. Nothing special. Nothing too presidential. Far better than the last guy who one the democratic nomination from mass. But he's no Tsongas.

So no. If it was he and Bush in 2000, before we knew how bad bushw as, before 9-11, I would not be voting for him.

I like Kerry as well. He wasn't my first choice, but what were the odds of people rallying around Kucinich? His platform is more in line with my interests than Clinton's was. whether or not much of it will be enacted is another story, but that's a fight for after the election.

Well put everyone, I'm right there with you putting my Libertarian ideals aside and voting for Kerry hoping enough other people do the same.

DON'T WASTE A THIRD PARTY VOTE ON A MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES!!! PLEASE!!!

Bush has lied. Bush has cheated. Bush has commited impeachable offenses. Period. Why havn't the numerous calls for impeachment ever stuck? Because the House of Representatives is in charge of drawing up articles of impeachment. The House is currently controlled by a Republican majority.

It is IMPERITIVE that the Democrats take back the House. This way, even if Bush wins, or 'wins', his way into another four years, he can at least be held accountable for the crimes he has commited.

So, even if you refuse to back one of the major two parties for president, please take the time and vote for the Democrat for the House of Representatives.

that is all.

I'm all in favor of a Democrat controlled house (no matter how unlikely that seems to be with the most recent gerrymandering efforts of the Republicans) and I'm no fan of some the shady shit that the Bush administration has pulled. But what, specifically, has he done to merit impeachment? The only thing I can think of is if the Valerie Plame thing could be traced back directly to him. I'll say this about the man - he's always been pretty skilled at keeping his own hands clean.

This year at least, voting has to become more than an abstract excercsize, make the polls useless, tell all your friends who haven't voted, to get out and vote.
