Fundamentalism is easy to turn around, give people jobs, and money, and a stable country to live in, look at the UAE. Sure there are a few crazy militants everywhere, but most are poor people, who need someone to blame, and something to hate. Education is needed, freedom helps, but it can't be forced on an unwilling people.
