Purple Heart band-aids? puke

Heroism

\Her"o*ism\ (?; 277), n. [F. h['e]ro["i]sme.] The qualities characteristic of a hero, as courage, bravery, fortitude, unselfishness, etc.; the display of such qualities.

Heroism is the self-devotion of genius manifesting itself in action. --Hare.

The physical manifestation of your party meets once every two years, this is its face. These delegates are the Republican Party.

If you do nothing to harm the intended target you still have harmed our soldiers. Our grandfathers, our brothers, our sisters - you make everyone who has received a medal in doubt of its worth to them and in doubt of the very people of such a country that would trivialize an honor of war.

Shame.

I thought it was disrespectful to the people that actually earned those medals. I also think Kerry's been just as disrespectful to those same people.

I love it when the republicans show their true colors, but that is inexcusable.

Worse yet is the glee with which they were proudly accepted by the delegates.

Childish taunting, hatred, intolerance, war and fear seem to be the big themes coming out of their convention.

This is always how it happens with the Republican party -- someone does something fucking stupid, and they're always saying "Well, we can't control individuals in the party." But any dumb ass thing any Democrat says is proof positive of the "anger" and "hatred' of the party as a whole.

I agree, it really is a slap in the face to everyone that
earned a Purple Heart, i have real doubts that Kerry earned all of his, it really makes you wonder why he doesn't release his Military Records, if they are legit then just release the records. But back to the topic the bandaid do send a message that hey if you got a purple heart then all you got was a scratch and that is just the wrong message to send.

John Kerry's Official Naval Records (in PDF form)

What else would you like? Besides of course his own private personal logs I don't know of anything else that is wanted. (I'm not being combative, I am actually asking what is not included that his detractors would like to be included)

Edited to add:
John Kerry's After-Action Combat Reports

I was watching CNN when I saw a bunch of chickenhawks running around with the stupid Purple Heart band aids.

I was watching with my father who got 2 Purple Hearts in Vietnam and he was furious too.

That is about the most fucked up and cowardly thing I have seen so far. I was begining to think the Swift Boat Vets were as low as the Republicans could go. I guess I was wrong. frown

Honesly, I'm getting sick of everyone. If either party could come up with a someone who could actually do the job well.. Neither one is worthy of running this country, but ya, the Republicans hit a low with those band-aid's... I can't even watch the news anymore.

a soldier can not put himself up for a medal, it's not a matter of you filling out the right paperwork to get yourself a medal of any kind......and they just don't hand out those Silver Stars, a heroic (bordering on stupid) action needs to have been performed

I'm not a big fan of Kerry's but saying his medals are not earned is bullshit

One guy hands out a few purple bandaids and provokes the fury of the Lib-bots.

Meanwhile, on the streets of NY, thousands of Lib-bots scream abuse, portray the president as the anti-Christ and protest against the right of a political party to hold its convention.

What is more obscene?

The people who are questioning his service did even worse to John McCain. Ted Sampley and his people called him a "Brainwashed Manchurian Candidate." He said McCain is a KGB spy, went to jail for fighting a McCain staff worker, and told voters he had an affair with and fathered a mix-race baby because that would really piss off the real Republican base...

John McCain on these pricks:

I strongly caution reporters who may be contacted by or are interested in Mr. Ted Sampley and the various organizations he claims to represent, and his opinions on the subject of Senator Kerry, or any subject for that matter, to investigate thoroughly Mr. Sampley's background and history of spreading outrageous slander and other disreputable behavior before inadvertently lending him or his allegations any credibility."

"I am well familiar with Mr. Sampley, and I know him to be one of the most despicable people I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. I consider him a fraud who preys on the hopes of family members of missing servicemen for his own profit. He is dishonorable, an enemy of the truth, and despite his claims, he does not speak for or represent the views of all but a few veterans. The many veterans I know would think it a disgrace to be considered a comrade or supporter of Ted Sampley."

Sampley's people also made a fake picture of Kerry "shooting" a POW in 1992. So if that's the side you want to be on Vote Bush.

The difference is, one is a sanctioned political event and the other is pissed off unaffiliated citizens being extreme. You're right, those signs are distasteful and so is this little stunt...to say that the RNC should have the same ethical constraints as protesters is pushing it.

er....the real difference is one was a lame stunt by a pissed off republican acting alone, the other is a huge organised campaign orchestrated by a whole bunch of well funded groups involving many thousands people.
