I have had a particular cell phone number for 5 years and it is used to advertise my construction business, I get non stop non-solicitated sales calls on it becuase it is published. I have second cell phone that I have had the number for 2 years with virtually no marketing calls. So I do think that being listed will definately cause people to attack you with sales.
I think spam, telemarketing, door to door, bulk mailings or any unsolicited sales should be illegal and punishable by death. (even though I send out flyers) wink

I put my cell phone number on the "do not call list "way back in the day because I knew this day would come.

There's a bill that's been introduced in the House that would require cell phone companies to only include people who specifically ask to be included in this directory in it, and to not charge anyone who doesn't want in. There's some fear that cell phone providers will enforce obscure provisions in the service agreements and say you've already agreed to be in the directory, and also that they might charge people to be left out of the directory, the way that land-line phone companies charge for your number to be unlisted.

The suspicion is that this is a fees grab by the cellular industry.
