am I the onty person that felt an earthquake in northern California. I was in bed about 15 min. ago (11:15pm) and my gun safe started pounding against the wall. For a minute I thought world war 3 but I didnt see any orange mushroom cloud outside so it must have been an earthquake.

Sometimes it feels like a big truck driving by. Sometimes it feels like a rollercoaster. Sometimes it feel like the house is going to fall down.

dude! this is so cool!

the website says
A minor earthquake occurred at 11:20:14 PM (PDT) on Sunday, April 18, 2004.
The magnitude 3.7 event occurred 6 km (3 miles) SSE of Susanville, CA.

then I look at the location of RECKONING and the time this was posted.

why does this all impress me so much?

I'm impressed; i'm on the pacific rim but we've not had an earthquake for about a million or so years. i had heard it's like standing on jelly...hmm intrigues me.

I have lived here 2 years and never felt one. I was a little suprised at first but I rember the one in 89 (i think), now that was wild. My dads pool emptied onto the lawn and the cars slid around on the driveway. I was living in modesto at the time

I was driving on the road with my roommate and we almost went off the road due to the earthquake. We did not figure it out until we got home.

the first time i felt an earthquake i wasn't even sure what it was. i thought someone fell or dropped something upstairs.

then the second one that night was a little stronger and it sorta freaked me out. we haven't had another one since then (that i could feel, we have them all the time though).

i can't say im looking forward to another one (at least not a big one)

Well..it depends when and where. In a 3rd world country its very bad. In 1st world country where builders design earth quake resistant buildings its better. My expirence was minor, it occured in south america, in a building not designed for earthquakes, I was scared because I was 15 stories up, and I just thought something would go terribly wrong. But i'm here still alive. It unpreditable, shakey, short and just very odd (I didnt panick because quite frankly I was in some sort of awe). It's almost like that 5th dimension coming alive.

The thing that I've noticed about earthquakes is that each earthquake, within it, has different sensations. Most start out slow and pick up. (Some don't, however.) It's random, like the size of waves at the beach.

The thing that bothers me about earthquakes is that it seems (in southern California, at least) that they like to happen when I'm sleeping. It's quite disorienting to be woken up by an earthquake.

Also, if your roomates sleep in the nude, you'll probably get to see them naked as they'll rush out of their bedrooms in a state of total panic and confusion. This could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on who you live with.

I grew up in the East Bay area of SF and had earthquake drills pounded into me at school. Not only did they come in handy while in California it came back to me years later after moving to Florida.

Its just like a shuttle launch.

if by "can't catch a break" you mean "three and a half years after a thread about a 3.7 quake...there was another earthquake."
