To be fair to Fox News, some things in the film could be considered odd:

1) The tar-and-feathering of Statler and Waldorf by the Occupy Balcony monster was a metaphor for something, I'm pretty sure.

2) The line, "Monster represent 10 percent of Muppet, but get 80 percent of coooookiiiiiee!!!"

3) Kermit singing "Someday, we'll find it/the Koch bros connection/The Rethuglicans/the rightists/and Tea!"

4) The scene with that new muppet, Algore? It was like a 20 minute Powerpoint presentation! Who greenlit that?

5) Most of the movie revolved around Jason Segal and a free-needle exchange program, which I found (slightly) odd.

6) The Count listing every percentage point of the 99%

So what if movies for children have messages about the real world? How are they supposed to learn? Singing the ABC's and reading Dick is only going to work fora couple of years but after that kids eyes and ears open and they ask questions. As a parent I hear those questions (my daughter is almost 8 years old) and I've decided to answer them as honestly as I can. The world is a big, round wonderfully fucked up place and I make sure not to hide that from her.

Fox News was constantly asking why kids need to be told that certain rich people are evil and do evil tings to stay rich. Well how about telling kids that it's okay to beat up gays because the Bible says so? Which message is worse I wonder?

I think they're just afraid of competition with their own right-wing puppet show, Fox and Friends.

DOHOHOHOHO!

Slightly off topic, but here's Fox's recent report on protests in "Moscow."

confused Good on RT for calling out western media for their propaganda and false reporting of Russia, but isn't that a bit like the pot calling the kettle black?

Yep, both the pot and the kettle are black in this situation. Still, the clip appears to be genuine. The agenda of RT might be skewed, but their information in this case is not. Other sites are reporting the same info but not addressing it in the detail that the Russia Times article does. The only other thorough article on the subject that I have seen is the Atlantic Wire one here.

Note: I can independently confirm (being in Moscow right now and all) that no one is throwing Molotov cocktails at the police in the streets.

It's only fair for RT to decry the dishonest reporting of other news agencies, they have every right to do so, even if they do it themselves. Given the situation though, I'd trust your word over anyone else's.

For the record, Fox has also distorted reporting on the Occupy movement, so at least they are consistent when it comes to being wrong. Now that the shoe is on the other foot though, it's only fair to acknowledge that even Fox can get it right every now and again. That is to say, they are right in so far that they have neglected to falsify their reporting... surreal

Is that kind of like, "Even a stopped clock is right twice a day?" biggrin

They're on military time so it's more like only once a day.

The amount of bad reasoning flying throughout this story is upsetting.

Big Bird was as red as they came in the 1930s & 1940s. Some in the counterintelligence community believe that the Cambridge Five was really the Cambridge Six. I'm not saying Big Bird was a traitor but he spent a lot of time with those guys.

Snuffleupagus was a covert agent. So good at being covert that only Bird knew of his existence for ages.

You think Oscar spends all his time in garbage cans for his health? He's trying to dig up dirt--literally--on right-wing America. He's still there because he hasn't found any, of course. (Preachers and GOP officials usually betray their homophobic message in hotel rooms, not recycling bins.)

When are conservatives going to realize that creative people are liberal? It isnt that there's a liberal bias in Hollywood, or the music industry, or the the arts or whatever. Creatives are liberal, for the most part. Period. So every time they complain about Hollywood actors being liberal, or musicians being liberal, or documentary directors being liberal, I want to ask them, well get rid of the liberals and where will you be? I'll tell you where: shit movies, shit music and shit art.

So fucking deal with it and shut the hell up.

Precisely.
But are the Fox Network and Fox News part of the same organization?
Because, well, I'm still confused by the idea that Matt Groening works for Fox.
