This is really disappointing for any woman to hear, thank you Calico for posting this, informative but sad state of affairs. It is unpopular to call for taxes right now, but the money has to come from somewhere. Why not out of the abusers pockets? Can't they increase fines for these so called misdemeanor charges? Or increase tax on alcohol and crowbars?

An effective tactic I heard about was a group who formed to fight against big polluters got their city mayor to sign an accountability form, and asked if he agreed people had the basic right to live free of harm. Then they voted their city 'Top Polluter' and got a lot of media attention. Silence is what allows vile failings of justice like this to prevail. People need to get the message out to Topeka that this is outrageous, lest other courts follow the repugnant precedent this sets!

I'll support the "change" in the law to focus on more serious crimes BUT I also will allow this type of behavior.
