The fourth item on the proposal you linked is "Eliminate Department of Education"!

education can exist without the federal government being involved, or with a different level of involvement than there is currently.

I would hate to think what a solely corporate-sponsored school would look like.

Math Test:
"If John has three Exxxtreme Cool Blast Pepsi Colas and Timmy has 2 Cherry Berry Diet Dews, how much refreshment do they have?"

Hilarious.

Edison Schools is a for profit public school corporation. When their stock tanked they hocked the computer labs and music equipment from a Philadelphia branch.

So would I, so I am glad that those are not the only two options available.

Nearly every state is in as bad, if not worse, economic condition as the federal gov't. Do you think they're going to want to take on added responsibility?

It'd certainly cut down on costs. In states like Texas, students would only need one book for all 12 years of schooling.

I've got NO IDEA what options you're talking about.

-- switching public funding obligations from the Feds to the states? What are assumed to the public finance advantages of doing that? (Or are there supposed to be pedagogical reasons for doing this?)

-- switching the funding burden from government to private individuals/families?

-- something else?

one per school would be enough. The schools could bring someone in to read the daily prayer. Saves all that time if you don't teach the kids to read.

What happens to the kids that can't afford to pay to go to school (without public funded schools)?

Wouldn't even have to pay for it. Just grab them from cheap hotel rooms.
