B) He is NOT (openly, at least) anti-gay marriage. He is PRO LAW. California passed a law, he wants it enforced. That's his fucking JOB. He ran on a campaign of equal rights to civil unions and he still supports that. He may not believe in gay marriage, but everything he's said about the situation revolves around letting the people (courts) decide.

I've really grown to hate this agrument. Civil rights have been most successfully spearheaded by acts of civil disobedience. Decades later, we're not calling those people law-breakers, we're calling them heros, and ahead of their time.

I agree with Morgan 100%. I'm tired of this arguing back and forth (on other boards) about the legitimcay of gay marriage in general. It's come down to this for me: if you don't believe that all people deserve equal rights, regardless of race, religion sexual orientation, etc., you're prejudice, and in this particular instance, heterosexist.

And I can absolutely NOT support a heterosexist politician.

For the record, I originally backed Carol Moseley Braun, and will be voting for Kucinich in the primary.

You have to be joking! You are using that article as an argument against Schwarzenegger? That article more or less said, if you are of German decent or rich or white, you guilty of all crimes ever committed in the world at any time, period.

Gee...I wonder why Liberals have no credibility.

Did you bother to read the article, Mullen? It isn't about being white or German (AS is Austrian) or even rich. It's about how people of privilege are trying to hide their shady pasts and doing a lousy job at it by associating themselves very publicly with horrible people and STILL being rewarded for their corruption! This should concern all Americans. Unless corporate malfesence and public appreciation for those who committ genocide are qualities you look for in a President.

Last night the wife and I were watching something at a friends house about Schwarzenegger's life. Acting then politics, etc. Some guy at the end said "He's aiming for the top, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in the white house!" which struck us as funny, since according to this little thing called the Constituion you have to be born in America to president. We laughed at what a dumb ass that guy was and forgot all about it. This morning I wake up and read this.

The Republican governor said anyone who has been a U.S. citizen for at least 20 years — as he has — should "absolutely" be able to seek the presidency. A constitutional amendment proposed by Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, would make that possible.

"There are so many people in this country that are now from overseas, that are immigrants, that are doing such a terrific job with their work, bringing businesses here, that there's no reason why not," said Schwarzenegger, who became a U.S. citizen in 1983.

Good for him. Good for him!

I was born a citizen, but i happen to have been born in Ireland. Lived there til I was three and a half, I did. It has always pissed me off that i couldnt be president. Rock on you big stupid Governator.

Honestly, I can think of only one naturalized American that, in my opinion, is qualified to lead this nation. This man has served in our government and is highly intelligent. Henry Kissinger. I am not saying I would vote for the man, but he deffinately has the qualifications.

I think as long as you were born a citizen, you can be president. Else what about kids born overseas to military/diplomats/etc? I think it's an issue of being born a citizen vs. being naturalized. So... I think you still can be president... biggrin

I've heard that before, and I want it to be true. But i have also heard that it isn't true. So who knows. I hope it is.
As for kids born on military bases, they are considered American soil. As are embassies. So that’s their loop hole. NOW WHERE THE FUCK IS MINE?! mad
