Just barely. I suspect just enough to say "Hey everybody, look at me! I cut taxes!"

Coyotemike said:
He said he would close Guantanamo: That is on schedule.

Well that's something I don't agree with, so naturally I'll assume he'll do it (just like, I suspect, you'd assume Bush would do something you disagree with after he said he would). From your perspective, though, I'd wait till he actually does it before giving him credit.

Coyotemike said:
He said he would work to return our good international standing: So far so good.

So I guess that means we won't have to worry about Al-Qaeda or Somali pirates anymore? (Returning our good international standing is rather broad and vague).

You missed the point entirely.

There are many countries that are not exactly happy with our corner of the globe. More specifically, how Bush mettled in international affairs that he really should've left alone.

Al-Qaeda terrorists and Somali pirates are just one part of a larger problem.

I still don't get what the fuck these idiots are upset about. They want lower taxes? Done. They want a smaller government and less wasteful spending? Getting there

A few years ago, as the deficit under Bush Jr was spiralling up and he was cutting taxes, some people (including me, here) were trying to get across the notion that whatever was happening to taxes here and now, increasing deficits now means taxes here sometime later on.

As I pointed out elsewhere, that was something conservatives remained in denial about as long as Bush was in power, and then they suddenly -- "OMFG! Deficits!" -- noticed the implications once Obama came to power under the circumstances of a critical collapse in economic activity. Large amounts of advice were received that a package of stimulus spending was required , which necessitated a further expansion of the existing deficit.

So, to the extent that the TeaBag phenomenon is driven by the perception of the deficit's impact on future taxpayers (and some of the protestors seem to have no clear idea), the real stupidity and hypocrisy of the teabaggery is the failure of any of them to have gotten excited about this issue until now. Where were they when Bush was scaling up the deficit year after year after year?

I think we're leaning more towards the Electric Car as a potential guard against that situation.

Because, you know, there's so many of them around, everyone can afford one, and the charging network has already been completed...

I wonder how many of these whatever I could put in a post before SG clipped it.

Sorry for seeming off-topic, I've just heard that there's actually going to be a protest in Albany concerning this nonsense. Didn't this crap go away in 2007?

Ironically, everyone's ignoring of my question answered it. Good to know the NAU scare has gone the way of Ron Paul.

No, silly! McCain was the one that was going to give us a 100% tax cut.

I thought this had something to do with the Smirnoff viral videos.

Weak Tea by Jamison Foser of Media Matters does a nice summary criticizing both the emptiness of the protests and the media's willingness to buy into the notion that congressional financial decisions that not everyone supports are NOT actually taxation without representation, FYI.
