I'm lost
June 2006

JAN 20, 2009 05:21 AM

It's the dawning of a new era in politics. The old a disastrous is being ushered out. The National Mall is already filling up. People are exited; the optimism is palpable. This could be the biggest event Washington has ever seen.

We need this release after all the years of feeling frustrated and like we were excluded from the political process.

Let's share our thoughts on the inauguration, ancillary events, and the transfer of power to the soon to be 44th president and the citizens.

Washington D.C. is one giant meat popsicle right now. I heard on NPR this morning that the Potomac River is frozen solid.

Let's hope that the throngs provide one another with body heat. That's what happens at summer outdoor concerts, anyway.

It's got some ice on it, but it's not really.

It's too cold and there are too many people here. I'll be watching on tv from my living room, though I can hear the sirens and stuff from my window. I live just down the street from the Capitol.

It's a happy day.

Well done, San Fransisco Boy's Chorus and San Fransisco Girl's Chorus.

I'm a sucker for that stuff.

DC is difficult to maneuver on a good day, but with all the people and streets closed down, it's crazy!

I hope you're stocked up on goodies.

Olbermann and Matthews are dumbstruck by the energy in the Mall.

Running a little bit ahead of schedule. Not good for those of us who were hoping to time our commute perfectly with the event.

Yesterday I realized there is a certain awesomeness to the fact that we're celebrating the inauguration of the first black president on the day after we celebrate one of the greatest civil rights activists who's hard work made it possible for this to happen.

I'm also glad I'm 4 hours away from there. I'd much rather be in a place where I can sit and enjoy the speech that signifies the end of one of the worst periods in American History.

I woke up late and was going to head to a friend's place to watch, but now I'm afraid to go anywhere and miss anything.

I'm going to slip into my classroom early and make sure I can get a stream up to watch. The speech and the class should start at the same time. TIGHT SCHEDULE!!!

Was I hearing things, or was there a chorus of boos as soon as W. was announced?
