remember contra-gate? Reagan was't all that and a bag of chips.

He'll go down as good president, but he ain't no FDR.

why not Ike? reagan is the only thing republicans can be proud of in the last twenty years. Oh did they all get aldzheimers? and for get kicking the air traffic controllers out? Reagan -nomics or should I say voodoo economics? does recession in the 80's ring a bell? If the 80's were good it's olny because the 70's were totally fucked ecionomy wise 17 % inflation. Nixon's three part economy plan. More republicans screwwing with our money now they want us to look at reagan when we are paying the parking meter.

I guess it's better than putting him on a $100 bill though. Put him on a $2 bill than I won't ever have to see him.

Well, they already named a fucking airport after Reagan...the president who fired all the air traffic controllers, so redoing the dime wouldn't even come close in the "what the fuck?!" irony sweepstakes.

That said, Reagan didn't hold a candle to FDR as a President. Reagan is one of, if not the most overrated President in US history.

of all the amazing presidents, reagan would not be the one i would pick to replace FDR.

why all the change in our money as of late?

OR is this just another ploy for the fed to get us to collect coins...(like all those damn state quarters your grandma asks for at the bank and puts into one of those crappy carboard maps she bought at wal-mart)

Reagan's firing of the air traffic controllers was a direct result of them not going back to work after being ordered to do so after months of contract negotiations and their overall walkout from their duties. They pulled a power play and it backfired in their faces.Union busting at it's finest.

FDR did not too much more , than um, implement the policies that Hoover would have done had he been reelected,..now Eleanor Roosevelt on the other hand , i think did much more than her husband.
while your at it with most overrated President, don't forget darling Billy-boy . wink

Yeah, "union busting" is one of the millions of reasons I think Reagan sucked as a President. Not to mention it came at the expense of safe air travel, but what's a few mid-air collisions when you're teaching those unionized workers that they don't actually have any right to strike?

FDR did not too much more , than um, implement the policies that Hoover would have done had he been reelected,..now Eleanor Roosevelt on the other hand , i think did much more than her husband.

You mean the policies Hoover never mentioned during his entire term in office? I'd love to see proof that Hoover was planning anything nearly as sweeping as the New Deal, especially since the sum total of his response to the Great Depression was "things will work themselves out".

Oh, and let's not forget that FDR led the country through WW2.

while your at it with most overrated President, don't forget darling Billy-boy . wink

Clinton is more over-bashed and over-rated these days, but depends on who you ask. But still, he's not nearly as lionized as Reagan.

First of all it would be against the law for the Treasury to print currency with the image of a living human being on it, so it won't happen until Reagan is gone.

That being said, I'm not sure about putting him on any coin. FDR should stay on the dime. No other president expanded our wonderful government in quite the same way. Without him, our economic scene wouldn't be dominated by those wonderfully intelligent Keynsians, who in their infinite wisdom, secretly believe that we should be working for the good of each other. Without FDR, some say, that glorious moment in our history we call the GREAT Depression, may not have lasted nearly as long as it did. How anyone could want to take that constitution ignoring megalomaniac off of a coin is beyond me. wink

Drew,
While I can see your concern, please understand that Ronald Reagan was a great man who single handedly destroyed communism once and for all in 40 days and forty nights while fasting in the desert. He saved America from invasion by the very real threat of Guatemalans and protected the hemisphere from the likes of Castro by invading Grenada, an operation that was approved by the Lord Jesus Christ himself. You can argue opinions all you want but these are just the facts. Ronald Reagan is responsible for gravity, the ability of blood to carry oxygen to cells, and personally installed every streetlamp in your city except for twelve which were previously put in by Richard Nixon. I for one will not sit idly by while you engage in such obvious HATE SPEECH like the quote above. "they've already got their airport?" Why the us vs. them mentality? It's not like you're either with us or against us... we're all americans, and Ronald Reagan was also personally responsibe for that as well.

I am officially renaming your kitchen the Ronald Reagan Memorial Culinary Preparation Center, and will be in touch with you soon to set up the arrangements. I know this may create certain problems for you, but it is only fair. He did, after all, give us the concept of food as well. A little known fact left out of this whole debate is the fact that prior to Reagan's ascension to the governorship of California, people didn't eat. They just went about their lives and only those who accidentally swallowed edible things (He coined the word "edible"the way) survived. He understood that without food the world would not be safe in the fight against Communism, and he did something about it. Which is a lot more than I can say for you y-sayers out there with your politics of hate.

Instead of fifty stars on the American Flag, I think there should be fifty tiny little portraits of Ronald Reagan with caption bubbles containing the first fifty syllables of the Pledge of Allegience.

"Long live the gipper" can pick up the slack.

your friend,
Pol. whatever

In the civil war era there was a problem of living people turning up on printed money that just began to come into use at the time due to coin shortages.

On stamps you have to be dead for 10 years unless you are a president.

I only agree to the Reagan dismal dime if we get a Bukowski stamp in trade to mark the 10th of his passing.

When they put Ronald Regan on the U.S. Dime is when I move out of the country. Not that I am unpatriotic, its just that Ronald Regan didnt do anything that warrants being "immortalized" in a currency denomination. Thhe "recent" push to have his wrinkled face put on everything from Mount Rushmore to the dime is pretty scary and fucking retarted. The only thing decent that Ronald Regan has done is "Bed Time For Bonzo" , and that one of his daughters was in Playboy 10 years agotongue

haha awesome...i love reagan...no one person has inspired so much good punk rock as Reagan. for example: REAGAN YOUTH, or REAGAN SS, or this fine song right here

WASTED YOUTH: REAGANS IN
Reagan's in we're going for good
We'll fight and kill the best we could
No one cares if we die
Reinstate the draft and tell us lies
You fight a war where no one wins
Where people die and bodies burn
Reagan don't care he won't fight
He'll try and send us with all his might
There he goes another one
Kill that man his values are wrong
It ain't movies it's not T.V.
It's preety rough man you will see
All this shit it's just no use
Men unite don't be abused
You have to go it's not your choice
Sure we'll go but hear our voice
Reagan's in we're going for good
Reagan's in we're going for good

direct quote from my friend Ben the other day...

"i want to get a treasure chest. so i can fill it with Reagan dimes when he takes over the world."

...and yes, Ben is slowly going insane...
