i find it hard to muster up sympathy for this lady, though i do think every single fuckbag (er, excuse me, "shopper") should have been fucking arrested for assault. why is it ok to trample someone? and don't tell me they didn't know they were trampling a person. a soft, squishy body does not feel the same as a crappy lino floor.

A DVD player? For a Cabbage Patch doll maybe.

Come work in the cell phone biz; the day after Thanksgiving we're actually slower than usual. No one wants to stress over rate plans when they could be running around pulling things off of shelves.

Amen. Just another depressing anectdote to an increasingly depressing human race.

Peace on Earth and goodwill toward men, my ass. If Jesus was actually born in this crappy season we insist on saying he was then he'd be rolling over on ... the ... left? ... hand of god... (that sounds weird!) But! 100's of generations of Druids, Wiccans and other "pagans" who honored the solstice are certainly dissapointed in their fellow moron ... I mean man! D'oh.

Shop on America!

Last year, someone got shot at Target because they accidentally cut into line ahead of someone. This was the line outside... at 5:30 AM. People are idiots.

YES! I can only hope that the aliens come and take our toys away and tell us to play nice with one another - God doesn't seem to be interested.

I actually have an Apex DVD player. It works at least as well as much more expensive ones. I mean, I wouldn't want to get stomped for one, but it's an OK player.

I've had mine for years now with no problems. The remote has every feature you'd need on it. No scrolling through menus. I love it. For fourty dollars, you can't really go wrong.

Leave the damn Apex DVD players alone. wink

Just read the story in the local paper and I agree with the moo comment. What's fucking wrong with people that they injure someone in order to save a few bucks on something they don't need.Don't they realise the same item will be on sale in a couple of weeks again?

Same reason the lottery works so well, just another way to fleece the sheep... whoops! I mean exploit the cattle... or rape our natural resources (morons.)

People are just afraid they might miss the bargain

Convert to an Orthodox church. They don't have Christmas until Jan. 7th.

You could do your shopping at the after-Christmas sales. tongue

Oh, and by the way, Apex is going to start making bargain-priced HDTV's too. I'm not sure I'd buy one, unless they get those down to like $30 too. tongue

Why is this a big news story? The busiest shopping day of the year... One fucked up thing happens in one Wal-Mart... 298 million people in this country... The lady wasn't even killed. *YAWN*

The real story here is how fucking lazy the media machine is -- Rather than finding real news, or trying to tell a more complex story that might actually engage people's noggin's, we get this crap, which essentially amounts to salacious gossip passed at light speed from newsroom to newsroom. All this story does is titillate, allows us all to participate in a collective national endorphin rush from saying tsk, tsk. What if it was just really crowded, really loud, and nobody could notice? Probably everyone else in that crowd was getting jostled around so much they didn't know what was what. This isn't a morality play -- this is a crowd control issue. Walmart needs to do a better job of admitting people to its stores on the busiest shopping day of the year.

Oh, but it's just soooo sweet: Wal-mart, the quintessential of American capitalism. And if she was shopping at Wal-mart, she must have been a real working class stiff. Probably her husband cut bolts down at the factory, and she was a receptionist at the local Dentist office where she worked to make ends meet. And all she wanted was a DVD player for little Jimmy, who has a learning disability you know. Do you know how long she worked to save up that $29? Big. Fuckin. Deal.

It happened not too far from here... it was on the news... apparently one of the other shoppers' daughters accused her own mother of considering the idea of stealing the DVD player that our dear tramplee had fallen on... but thought better of it.

The beautiful thing is... we can stand in line for hours to buy plywood and drinking water for Hurricane Obadiah but we can't do the same to buy a tickle me elmo.

Hello? Christmas? Whatever happened to "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's possessions" and "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"? Good thing everyone keeps the spirit of the holiday so close to their hearts...
