I'll just throw in here , I have no problem with someone owning a " normal " gun . I have yet to hear a good reason why someone not in the military needs to carry a assault weapon .

Assault weapons are fun to shoot.

I was married to a SWAT officer and we had a lot of guns. His father was also a dealer so we were always buying/selling/acquiring new ones. We had assault rifles, shot guns, rifles, hand guns, collectables, etc.

In fact, my son was 9 months old for his first Christmas and his grandfather gave him a single shot .22 rifle with his name engraved on it.

I fully support Obama and I know that he has no plans of changing my rights as an American or a sporting enthusiast so it really doesn't even apply to me. The other side tried to scare folks into a panic over the right to bear arms but the educated, more intelligent folks could see through that tactic.

What is an assault weapon in your opinion?

My take is that an M-1 rifle is a damn fine assault weapon, so are 12 gauge pump shotguns.

Not at all relevant to this thread. There's a Gun Owners group if you'd like to discuss the merits of various firearms.

I don't have any real guns but I like the sniper rifle in Team Fortress 2.

Does it count if I own a gun but no shells? I'm really counting on the distinctive sound of a shotgun being pumped as a deterrent to any burglars.
