Can we drop the whole "anyone who calls themselves a Christian sucks" meme? It's really annoying, an oversimplification, and not true.
As an atheist who has friends, coworkers, and family members who are self-avowed practicing Christians, I agree with this.
As soon as douche bags stop calling themselves Christians the meme will be dropped.
Also, to Fear the Reaper, Glenn Beck isn't a Christian in the typical sense. He's a Mormon. Funny you didn't say so since you've been so angry with the Mormons after Prop 8.
I didn't realize Glen Beck was a Mormon. Of course, I don't pay much attention to him so I guess I wouldn't.

I don't pay much mind to Glen Beck myself. I just happened to catch a bio show about him one day. The part I caught was talking about how he was an out of control drunk until he found Mormonism or something along those lines. I laughed then changed the channel.

The same thing could be said about asshole atheists. I don't like being associated with them, just like loving Christians don't want to be associated with fundamentalist bigots.

Even though I don't like Christianity, I was not trying to put down any followers with my douche bag statement, but as long as high profile Christians keep acting like bloodthirsty idiots by blaming 9/11 on gays and calling for the death of people who live outside of the Christian lifestyle the meme will not be dropped.
I understand that many religious people are good people and should not be disregarded because the actions of the fringe. However, it is a part of human nature to group people together, often unfairly, and judge them in broad strokes. This instinct gives birth to racism, sexism, antisemitism and all other kinds of bigotry.
So understand that even I do not believe in Christianity and do not defend the meme I see it as inevitable, at least from where we are as a species now.

Look, just replace "Christians" with "Muslims" and see what sort of reception you get. Credit goes to AlphaGoon for that point.
