Jeez. It's no wonder he can afford to buy 30 minutes of network TV time. He must be making some serious cash on all of this merch.

When you can afford to push back the World Series, you're definitely pretty flush.

Last time someone mentioned an Obama shirt on the CE boards, the thread got zotted. (It was also blatant spam to profit individuals). Hmm... If you still want a piece of history, I'm guessing there are still plenty of McCain/Palin shirts available for sale. biggrin

Well, I got my shirt for making a campaign contribution. It says:

I'm still waiting for my 4" magnet though (I've already written off the buttons from MoveOn, they never got here either). I'm wondering if there are some overly zealous postal workers tossing the goods in the trash or repatriating them for their own... I hope its the latter.

Dude, didn't we already go over this once before? This isn't official campaign merchandise, the money supports capitalists not socialists! wink

Erm, um. I don't know how to reply to that.

I guess I'm saying that if the merchandise being plugged on the link isn't somehow being used to monetarily support Barack Obama's campaign, it's only paying lip service while pocketing all the profit. It's capitalizing on the iconography, not supporting his message.

I don't care if someone just wants an Obama-Biden shirt, sticker, etc, but there's something a bit sleazy about the way the imagery is used for personal gain without disclosing it. For all we know, the web-based business is owned by a McCain supporter who's just trying to make a quick buck off of someone's ignorance. If they actually supported Obama, then they should make sure part of the proceeds go to the campaign. Hell, if they help Obama get elected, perhaps their shirts will be worth even more... I'm well aware that socialism involves people helping support one another towards a collective purpose (and I'm all for it), I'm just putting them to task to put their money where their mouth is (then they'd be true socialists).

Also, there was another thread that was deleted on the CE boards because it was just trying to sell crap, it was spam without substance. Even if it were in support of a campaign, it didn't really belong on the CE Boards to begin with...

confused I guess I did know how to respond after all.

Too much time on my hands here...

I researched some of the items on the "Obama T-shirt Shop" and it appears that it's just repackaged and sold for an outrageous profit (buttons sell for 3 times the amount you'd pay direct from the local USWA union - the real democratic socialist - site). They're also giving free shipping for orders over $25, the rip-you-off-shirt-shop charges 4.99 to ship a 3 dollar pin (the one you'd pay 1 dollar for at the USWA supported shop: democraticstuff.com). There's more options too (their pin selection is awesome in comparison. I'm not sure how closely connected they are to the Obama campaign, but at least you know you're directly supporting a union instead of just lining someone else's pockets.

Man, I still have not received my Obama/Biden t-shirt for when they were advertising it for free with a donation of $30 or more. I donated $50 for it, yet still nothing! I'm so voting for McCain now...

Obama Wins!

SANTA FE, New Mexico (CNN) %u2013 For The New Mexico Sun News it is either a major scoop or "Dewey Beats Truman" déjà vu 60 years later.

"Obama Wins!" is the headline of the edition on newsstands now, complete with "special collector's edition" in red bold typeface.

The Sun News is a bi-monthly newspaper and its Oct 26-Nov 8 issue had to hit the streets, and the newsstands, before the election. So the editors decided to make a leap of faith and declare Democrat Barack Obama the winner.

In an article explaining their choice, the editors unabashedly wrote, "When it comes to calling the winner of a presidential election, everyone wants to be first. The New Mexico Sun News hereby claims that achievement."

In its tongue-in-cheek style, the article went on to note the newspaper has a goal of reaching one million readers with each edition, but prints just 10,000 copies of each of its issues.

So, "each copy must be read by 100 different and distinct people. This places an enormous burden on our intrepid readers. However, it is a burden that we must insist you carry. So, please, read quickly, care for the physical condition of the paper and pass it on to your next chosen reader."

The liberal leaning alternative newspaper ended by imploring its readers to get out and vote, "even if we did spoil the ending for you."

So if Obama's website is running out of stuff, can you be forgiven for buying Obama merch from a third-party vendor? Discuss.

That would depend on what happens to the proceeds. If it goes to the support of Obama, fine. If it goes into some corporation wallet, and they're just cashing in, I got a problem with it.

Just make sure that it comes from a Democratically (union) supported company. The merchandise is usually more affordable then other "3rd Party" vendors and you'll still be giving his campaign lateral support in addition to helping Americans keep their union jobs.

In fact, I'm about to go and get some stuff right now...

Okay, so I guess that begs the following question: What are some union-supported, proceed-donating Obama merchandisers?

Hint, the images are hot-linked to a site I would highly recommend checking out (or you could check the URL of the pins under image properties). The site is affiliated with the USWA 3210, so them's good, hard workin' 'Mericans from Ohio.
