And yet . . . somehow I'm just not excited

My bet is on Romney.

Pawlenty seems to be the frontrunner.

Well, Pawlenty is still planning on doing his radio show live from The Great Minnesota Get Together tomorrow, but McCain is scheduled to give up the gods tomorrow at 11:30 (I believe). So, we'll see.

Pawlenty would be the ultimate "meh" choice. I'll be surprised if McCain goes with him. Romney should be the guy.

FiveThirtyEight is now saying it will NOT be Pawlenty.

It will be romney. A small boost in Michagan(daddy was the guv), maybe in Mass? But he will bring some conservatives back on board. But it just doesn't matter Obama slayed the elephant tonight.
Regarding good and pawlenty he might be a surragate right now, but outside minnyscrotum they ask who? And he won the election with 44% of the vote. They maybe setting pawlenty up for the future. Get him known but romney is the choice if they have any clue, so it may actually pawlenty as the repubes are clueless.

If he does go with Pawlenty, he may as well wave the white flag, cuz McCain's bid for Presidency will go up in smoke with that move.

One wonders why Pawlenty abruptly cancelled his appearances tomorrow. But there are the reports that various Romney properties are getting security sweeps from the Secret Service (which was a tip on Biden).
GOP operatives are saying it's a "conventional pick", meaning no Lieberman or non-politician, though it doesn't have to be a name that's being thrown around in the press. Does Kay Bailey Hutchison's gender exclude her from being considered a "conventional pick"?
There's speculation that McCain will also announce Lieberman as his Secretary of State.

If it truly is a "conventional pick", then it's Romney. Anyone else wouldn't fit the bill.

Dems should pray to whatever higher power they choose to believe in that Romney is the running mate choice. It'd make their job so much easier, with a non-Christian on the Repub ticket. It'll throw the Bible Belt into a tizzy, as many conservatives consider Morman's to be cultists.
