I think it was less than a year ago that the Chinese media picked up the Onion article "Congress Threatens To Leave D.C. Unless New Capitol Is Built " and touted it as a factual example of crazy Westerners and their unreasonable policymakers.

Even when it's boring, it's still got the av club and the local picks!
Honestly nothing beats the onion and the only reason there is so much debate about whether or not they're losing their touch is because we're all horrified that it might actually happen, that the funniest thing in america might poop out. Yeah it seems like they haven't been quite as good as they were in the late nineties but they still consistently produce the best satire in the biz.
