McJob first appeared in Douglas Coupland's Generation X. I think that was published in 1990. And he was hardly a moron just making up words. You can literally pull loads of cool phrases out of the margins of that book.

But while I don't have a McJob at the moment, I do sit all day in a veal fattening pen with my air family and try to ignore the thoughts of ozmosis.

I've heard that too...the way I understand it, at the turn of the century brothels used to hire musicians (usually black) to entertain the johns while they were waiting. That's how it became associated with the music.
Think about that next time Kenny G. comes on over the supermarket sound system.
