Hopefully over time some regulatory relief will be afforded the communities affecteed by the factory farms. The current administration relaxed the poop rools for giant pork farms. Some regulatory relief for the animals would be huge, but I don't expect much. Its odd that we allow meat animals to be treated in a way that would get someone arrested had they treated their horse or dog or cat in the same manner. I would love to see the elimination of prophylactic antibiotics. Nothing like helping our adversaries evolve.
... i watched that while eating a nice greasy piece of pepperoni pizza with extra cheese... it was so sad... *cries* to hear about how all those animals are treated... and then I went back to the kitchen for another slice. apathy... its the american way.
jk
things need to be changed... I just don't feel like preaching about it right this very second... *waits a second*... not this second either
We were made to eat meat, survival should be our only reason for killing animals.
let me point out that we don't need to eat meat to survive..
(i've been vegan for 8 years so i think i can rightfully say that, haha)
and neither we were 'made to eat meat'.
we do not have big claws, a mouth full of sharp pointy teeth, 10x strength stomach acid, short intestine (carnies have short intestines, herbivores have long intestines..like ours) etc etc...
Hey, don't be mean to carnies. Just because they trick stupid people out of their money and smell like cabbage, it doesn't mean their bodies are freakishly different from those of normal people.
I'm going to agree with Lorelei on the point that we don't need meat to live. However our digestive system is kinda designed for a omnivore's diet. Eating meat is a natural thing and many other animals with similar body systems do it. Our stomach is identical to a pig's and they eat anything. The Meatrix did make me think twice about how animals are treated though. I mean, a lion isn't going to force me and my best friends into a cage and make us shit on each other for weeks or months before it eats us. Lions simply don't have time for that shit, it's kill and eat. The lion just want to survive.
I guess I just take the nuetral stance on eating meat. I do and I think it's ok but I also support my vegetarian friends and have no problem doing without meat when I prepare a meal for them. We do eat too much meat in my opinion. Hell, I know I do and I'm thinking about cutting back. There really is much healthier stuff out there.
