The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory satellite spies the third most powerful solar flare on record, the bright blip near the sun's middle, on October 28.

Here cums the sun! The earth just got a proton facial.

Right now the planetary A index is showing 199, nearly off the scale, the Boulder K index is at 9, also nearly unheard of.
This is a nice place for pictures and solar forecasts. SOHO links are good also.

S'been too cloudy here. Too bad. I did get some nice reflections on 144Mhz. Very interesting watery sound from the phase effects.
