MoveOn.org has some of the worst ads out there. Taking McCain's 100 years comment literally is extremely disingenuous and makes liberals look bad.

Not to mention their New York Times "General Petraeus or General Betray Us" ad. I think that one was a lot worse then the McCain's "100 years comment" although is that has gotten a bit blown out of proportion and context.

Nice to see Republicans jumping on the bandwagon when liberals have integrity in self-criticism. Fucking classy. Keep it up, it's only going to help bring about the downfall of the GOP in November.

Petraeus is a Bushie and if not if for the neoconservative movement that created a hero-like perception in the media, that man would have probably have been swept out with the recent trash (Wynne). Buying off the militias? Yeah, that hasn't backfired before.

What? He said it. It wasn't out of context. It's pretty standard politics to hold politicians to what they say.

I just take issue with them emphasizing the number, as if the statement was meant to be taken literally. Maybe that is a bit of a nit pick, though.

But regardless, I don't think most can argue that MoveOn.org is informing or heightening discourse.

I would argue that MoveOn is attempting to invest in Obama now for influence later. There's a reason their logo is below Obama's name.

If any one who wasn't Liberal isn't supposed to comment on this topic or any comments made in it then this should have been posted in the Liberal Politics group and not the current events forum.
Actually I don't like General Petraeus but calling him General Betray Us is going a bit too far. However, as far as military leaders are concerned I really liked Admiral William J. Fallon and its a shame he had to retire early.

I can't really agree with buying influence either.

I give you permission to post in this thread, even if you are a Republican.

The spirit of bipartisanship is in the air, you know. wink

BTW, I figured that some people here might be interested in the bumper sticker or car magnet, so that's why I created the thread.

It's no surprise that I add a promo line for my group in the thread. I've been doing that for a long, long time. To my knowledge, there is no SG rule frowning upon promoting a group on the boards.

The Current Events Board is a good place to attract new members to my group. That's why I advertise here.

I'm not against bi-partisanship at all, I'm against hijacking a point to serve an ideological attack via Republican rhetoric.

So now its Republican rhetoric and hijacking to point out another bad ad moveon.org did when other people (Democrats I might add) pointed out that MoveOn.org isn't the best group in the world.... fine "free bumper sticker yay!!" love
