Colinism Capitalism and democracy work well together

America is a Republic. A Democratic Republic, the adjective enhances the noun. The noun is what we are, and that is a Republic.
Capitalism and a Republic work well together as Capitalism is a form of economical control (or lack there of), while a Republic is a form of government that tries to take an Utilitarian stance to decide what is best. A Republic, in theory, would look out for both Big Business while also the smaller man. In theory that is, but a Republic is still ruled over by humans and thus is still corruptible.

Socialism and Democracy would go together...unfortunately the very concept of Socialism and true Democracy would not work on a grand scale unless there was a serious change in human nature.

Which goes back to my earlier point that mr Canuk has (it is the weekend so he could be out in his defense) not yet addressed. Why does he feel so strongly that communism is the way when it's still going to be run by corruptible fallible human beings.

Adroitbeing The problem is that the value the content you provided as either original or "lifted" from another source is lost because of the transparency of your personal agenda to promote socialism, which is largely rejected by anyone subscribing to this site.

I'm not sure if I agree with that message either, nor understand where the assumption that the large majority of users wouldn't subscribe to some form of Marxist ideology. I'd even argue that SG, trying to promote 'alternative' lifestyles would actually promote more likeliness to lean towards Marxist ideologies than other forums.

On top of that, saying someone shouldn't state an argument simply because its not viewed as the popular belief is by no means a good argument either. In fact, its one that should not only be struck down, but reversed. Uncommon ideas and beliefs should be brought out more often to promote thinking.

I am a socialist. I like that this Canuck put out this thread so I can read the original. Now, I do say that its also somewhat subversive in that it points a finger out at a capitalist government while not recognizing that any form of government / media will also do the same.
But I do think it strikes a core concept...many Americans believe they are getting the full truth from the government. That despite some obvious problems, such as gas prices, from what I've seen people are just going forward and believing what we're getting told, and apparently we really shouldn't.

*Would like to note is going off intelligent guessing and personal experience, and by no means actually has a pulse on the SG community, let alone America, itself, and the author of this post is fully aware of that.

Alternatively, one could assume the majority of subscribers would not lean toward marxist ideology, as an internet glamour site is almost surely a waste of resources by the bourgeous
