All gas stations in my area (SW Florida) are now below $3.00, which is $1 lower than when hurricane Ike came by. Prices are dropping at a rate of about 5 to 10 cents a day.

Gas in the U.K. at the moment is $10 / gallon.

U.K. Gallons are different to U.S. (1 U.K. Gallon is = 1.2 U.S. Gallon).

So that would make it $8.33 per U.S. Gallon

Not bad as we seem to get a lot more miles out of fuel because the engines are a lot more efficient over hear. Seems like there may be more fuel efficient cars coming to the states.

That can't be a bad thing

Gas is getting very close to $2.50 in Columbus. It will be interesting to see if the gas price hypothesis gets touted should prices rise precipitously just before Nov. 4th and it is seen as helping Obama.

I've never understood that hypothesis particularly, since it seems like the number of people that type of fact could possibly sway would be quite low.

It'll go back up. One reason it's down is because supply is up BECAUSE people aren't driving.

Oh Im just so surprised that big oil has dropped the price dramatically before the election! as fucking usual. I am so sick of the connections between oil and repugnicans

Well, to be fair, the oil companies don't control the price of oil. It's price is determined by the commodities futures markets.

EDIT: Gas in SW Florida : $2.57 Seems to drop 5 to 15 cents a day over the last several weeks. I've seen 25 cents in one day.

Well, we found $2.31, and several places in town (Columbus, OH) are around or just under $2.40.

Cheapest in NOLA is about $2.50. Most expensive is about $2.90.

I don't live very far from my work, so I put very few miles on my car. Last time I filled my tank, I paid $3.81 per gallon. Freaky.

Dude, why is Canadian diesel a third of the cost here?

That's per liter, honey.

No it's not. It's per litre. wink

Although the price has dropped from $1.30/litre (about $4.92/gallon, if my math is correct) to 93.6 cents/litre - that's still the equivalent of $3.54/gallon. And that's where I live - in the GTA it's just over a buck ($1.003/litre when I was driving home yesterday). $2.90/gallon would be a blessing - about 76.6 cents/litre. Damn the Canadian dollar all to hell.

Your northern brethren are about the same, plus or minus a nickle, depending on where you are at.

This was the Republican plan all along, get the economy in the shitter, so that markets tank, and oil commodities will plummet as well!

Brilliant.

Also, I checked local gas prices because I don't gas up often enough to know otherwise. There's more than a dollar difference between the highest and lowest listed prices.

And of course, the 2nd and 3rd highest prices are the two gas stations closest to me (the only ones in downtown Portland).

There are two stations around here that are only about 1/4 of a mile apart, and there's a $0.40 difference.

i go there all the time, the problem is the cheapest gas price in my "area" consists of a 45 minute drive.

But it's got a nice specific city finder on the left hand side that makes me happy.
