Alright guys, feel free to tell me I'm wrong, but I can just sense that Obama is a disaster waiting to happen.

i generally respect the opinions i've seen you post here despite not agreeing with the vast majority of them. however, this "disaster waiting to happen," seems at best baseless and at worst a snipe simply because of the party he is a member of...unless you've got something you're not saying to back that up.

A disaster yes. Although the disaster is pretty much imminent at this point, for a variety of reasons,

how? in what way? if you believe the policies he wants to put forth are flawed, then levy an argument that demonstrates that. so far, i've yet to hear a conservative argument that goes beyond semantics or some variation on "well, he's just too liberal for me." notice that i'm not saying he's great or that i'm even going to vote for him, but if i did say either of those things i would try to back it up with something more substantive than having a sense or that he will just be inevitably bad.

On Darfur- That situation is also more complex then the MSM would have you believe. As are most of the clusterfucks in Africa.
If you want to help Darfur, the best thing, honestly, is to donate to Doctors Without Borders.

http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/donate/index.cfm?msource=AZD0408H1001

They are one of the only orginizations that can provide effctive relief to refugee camps (relief that doesn't get swallowed up by interceptors).

unfortunately, the situation has become so bad that they've had to suspend, i believe, nearly all of their activities in darfur.

William, on Obama, I think it's more so that to avert a crisis, the country would need to seriously change course, which I don't see Obama doing.

As far as specific policies, well. for one, I think his Global Poverty Act is terrible.

i haven't read that yet so i can't comment on it. i misunderstood what you were saying about the disaster though...sgt was saying that obama is a disaster waiting to happen and i thought you were just reiterating that. i do, however, agree that the expansion of executive powers that has gone on over the last 7-plus years is counter to our entire system and is fertile grounds for a crisis...

While I think that expansion of executive power is a serious problem, that actually wasn't what I was referring to. Moreso the current economic course. I actually am a little less concerned that Obama would abuse his executive power then say, McCain or Clinton.

Speaking of the overreach of power, here's a bill by Mister Paul that is currently working its way through the legislatture. I sure hope the democrats will pass this.

I almost thought you said "Master Paul". biggrin Sorry, i don't mean to be so snubby, it just stuck out with the "Mister" capitalized. By the way, who's Mor%u0113so? He sounds Latin or something.

i read that proposal and it sounds like a decent, constitutionally inspired bill...which means the democrats probably won't pass it out of fear that the repubs will accuse them of hating 'merica.
