I hate to be a jerk, and while this is sad news for the Kennedy family this is not another Kennedy tragedy. The man is 76, and while people live into their 90s and early 100's all the time now, hundreds of millions of people get terminal diseases all the time in their 50s,60s.70s & 80s. If I was him I would refuse treatment and retire to spend the rest of my time happily with my family.

I can see retiring to spend time with family, but why refuse treatment?

Sorry, went into edit, just so things would be clear. And I hope he can fight this.

because he is 76 and the treatment is really really harsh, they may get the cancer but the rest of his body may be ruined for the remainder of his years. When you are old like he is it is much harder to endure and recoupe(sp?) from really harsh treatments like chemo. So personally if I were in that position I would count my blessings, be happy that the rest of my body seems to work well and fade out gracefully.

I'm guessing he'll have it removed. The problem with brain cancer is that it's really not possible to remove all the cancer cells in the brain, because you do not want to remove the brain, just the tumour. That is if the tumour is considered operable. Chemo and raditiation therapy is normal after this, in an effort to kill remaining cancer cells and prevent the tumour growing back. I don't know what grade of tumour he has, or where it's located, and that can make a big difference in a lot of cases.

From what I know about brain cancer, I wouldn't bother with the chemo and radiation at his age, but I'm not faced with the choice.

Bring out 'yer fail!

No, it definitely works. I really wanted to edit the thing, but I'm too damn retarded. Think about it for a second and you'll get it. You know I'm very respectful when it comes to disease and death. My post was more a response to the media than humanity. Get with the program or I'll send another imam to discuss masturbation habits with you.

So, you're a kid at Weslyan. You're about to graduate and you're excited to get to hear Ted Kennedy speak at your commencement ceremony. Then you hear Senator Kennedy has a malignant brain tumor and you're very sad. Primarily you're sad because the country may lose a great Senator and statesman, but also a little bit bummed that you're not going to hear him speak at your graduation. You think "I wonder who they're going to be able to get on such short notice?"

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
Turns out it's some Muslim guy from Congress named Barack Obama.

Hope he's good at public speaking!
