Most biblical scholars agree that Jesus was executed by the Roman civil authorities. Furthermore, the Gospels, written nearly a century after the fact, after the crushing of the Jewish revolt, distorted the story for political reasons. At the time, the Romans were king shit and the Jews were nothing, politically. Therefore, the gospel writers changed the facts a bit in order to be able to convert Romans.
Furthermore, Gibson went to great lengths in the movie to play up the viciousness and bloodthirstiness of the Jewish crowd. That is much of the issue that the ADL has with the movie.
Ah, that explains much. That document is a vicious Czarist forgery which has brought untold death and misery to the world. Why hasn't this fool been zotted yet?

It doesn't make your support of Muslims any more powerful or valid to attach to it antisemitism.
It frustrates me that so many of these sorts of debates are framed in Muslim vs. Jew, Ethnic Palestinian vs. Israeli terms rather than, say, Extremism vs. Pragmatism or any number of fairer and more meaningful (and more difficult) dichotomies.
I understand the parties most deeply involved framing the problem in such a manner, and it's sad, but why in the Hell should rational members of the world stage feel forced to choose JEW or MUSLIM and be damned the other?

Thank you Flux; clarity and poignancy ringing through again.
It is thought provoking however to step outside the argument for a moment and consider why support for "Jews" is shouted with an exuberance only matched by the denunciation of Islam/Muslim.
I had a great Psych professor (Dr. Morris Massey) who used to ask; "now what do you suppose causes that?"
