I don't know the site's plans for Q1 2009, but I don't think coding an entire applet to answer the question "who is the President?" will be on the docket.

Of course they won't code an entire applet (whatever that means). It would be a lot easier to just change the board name to Obama Events. In case anyone's applet isn't coded to recognize sarcasm, I don't actually think the staff would do such a thing. Besides, a button or name change would just be redundant.

Seriously, since we (apparently) care so much about polls, why aren't we trumpeting the fact that he's actually increased his lead since last week?

Anyway, for what it's worth when it comes to PA:

1) The Obama-Clinton poll numbers have tracked in a very similar way to the Ohio primary in the weeks leading up to the primary. This is not a good sign for Obama.

HOWEVER:

2) Many folks are pointing out that the odds of an Obama win (or at least a close loss) are increasing daily. The reasons for this possibility are numerous, but essentially boil down to: Increased voter registration in the Obama-friendly areas, a growing fear among Democrats that Hillary's continued campaign will disadvantage the nominee in the fall, and the fact that Obama's outspending Hillary almost 3-1. Those are all big "could"s and "if"s. They might have an effect. But not as big an effect as:

3) Obama is finally going negative. He's going at her with both guns blazing with negative campaign ads 24-7 over the past week. He's avoided going (overly) negative so far, but now he can pull it off because he's seen by and large as someone who has been forced into this position. But most important of all, going negative generally has the effect of depressing voter turnout. Why is this good? Well, because if a lot of Democrats who aren't as strongly identified with the party or as passionate about their candidate show up to vote in the Pennsylvania primary, a substantial majority of those voters will probably break for Clinton given the demographics of the state. However, if Obama can both increase registration among his base and depress voter turnout among rank-and-file Dems, he could keep it close enough to deliver the knockout blow he's failed to give so far. It's risky and it may have some effects down the road, but it could also end the process. It's also worth noting that:

4) Obama is saying he'll be close. Which means he expects to be. Candidates don't make predictions like that without tons and tons of data to support it. They may know something we don't.

It would be like watching a slightly sick, but none-the-less amusing movie that ends too soon.

The funniest thing in recent weeks was definitely the scene where Obama supporters pissed their knickers over ABC. Hilarious irony considering the coverage he normally gets, mixed with wonderful satire on the old democratic crybaby shtick.

You think this pantomime will be so vivid when it's just McCain vs. Obama?

Also - I can't really understand why the Obama & Hillary supporters are so passionate about one lefty over another. Aside from the shallow hype over pigmentation and a pair of tits, what's the really difference?

Is it just down to Hillary's slightly more hawkish foreign policy?

I look forward to seeing this troll run away crying when Obama wins and changes politics as we know it in this country.
