[x] Obama

[x] anyone but Dennis Kucinich (for my congressional representative)

Anyone else in Ohio notice the fucking enormous step backwards we took in voting procedures? It was electronic voting last time, now it's a paper ballot in which you have to "color in the circles", no hanging chads at least.

Enormous step backward? The electronic machines you're implying were a step forward were declared unreliable and susceptible to tampering by your Secretary of State.

The last four times i have voted, about anything, the procedure has changed each time. I am glad to see the e-voting gone, that one was confusing as hell, i had to explain how to vote to my mother, and then got yelled at by a volunteer because i was standing near her booth. My mother fears ATM's, let alone those machines.

I don't know if "step backwards" was the best terminology for that, i stated it poorly. It's just kind of irritating that we can't pick a procedure and run with it, that the policies and procedures change every time we vote on something, whether it be paper or electronic.

Did you have to use specially weighed paper?

The ballot was gigantic, the names were all at least a quarter inch big, i kind of chuckled when they handed me this ballot that was a foot and a half long.

1.5 ft. paper ballots > Diebold (?)

i just got done voting here in tejas. no big problems, the room was a little crowded. the ballots were straight-forward and easy to read. a lot of people in there were talking about how this is the first time they've voted democratic. hope it all goes well!

Close race = bad for Hillary.

First Word of Exits For Ohio, Texas, Rhode Island, Vermont

This is interesting. One of my sources has gotten two sets of exit poll results. It's unclear whether this is different pollsters or, I suspect, different times of day.

For the first set, Obama is up by 2 percent in Ohio, Hillary is up by 2 percent in Texas, Hillary is up by 3 percent in Rhode Island and Obama is up by a 2 to 1 margin in Vermont.

The second set is similarly close - Hillary up by 2 percent in Ohio, the two Democrats tied in Texas, Obama ahead by 2 percent in Rhode Island and a similar 2 to 1 margin in Vermont.

You'll hear more as I learn more.

CNN is reporting exit polls showing that Latinos are voting for Clinton. Not a huge surprise, but I was hoping that Obama had closed that gap.

I just got back and my place was packed. The turnout was nothing short of phenomenal. It took me about 45 minutes just to get through the line to vote and when i was done the little scan-tron machine counted my ballot as #1023. and that was just on that one machine, there were three others. as i left there was about close to 200 people still waiting inside and a line going outside and stretching around the building. A guy i was talking to behind me said that this was the largest turnout he had seen since the first time Reagan ran.

I don't think he was so much talking about those electronic machines as the general idea of going from paper punch ballots to digital and back to paper (this time with SAT ballots). It is ridiculous. Why wouldn't we have the same problems with filling in bubbles that we did with punching holes? Why can't we vote on an electronic machine that then prints out a ballot that you can look over before you put it in the ballot box and that can also be fed into a scanner? Best of both worlds! Analog paper trail + the consistency of digital printouts + the ability for both machines and humans to count votes.

The mind boggles.

And yes, that ballot was ridiculous. And the west side of Cleveland can suck it. We have an awesome Representative in the Heights. Stephanie Tubbs-Jones FTW. And this weather sucks.
