So, then, a fake picture of a young child being anally rapped would be OK, as long as it's fake? Every thing's ok, as long as it's 'fake" then, right?

I see what you are saying, but if it were a fake puppy (or a dead one), then he should have revealed that soon afterward. Regardless of the truth on this issue, he is contributing to a negative image of American soldiers around the world. Perhaps more importantly, how people see American soldiers will shape their level of willingness to accept (or participate in) an American occupation of their country. I don't know if incidents like this force people to drastically revise their opinions of American troops, but the anger could be just enough to keep one person from not reporting a threat, insurgent activity, or whatever else to Americans. As such, incidents like this could put the lives of other American soldiers in danger. Granted, I may be exaggerating the potential for harm, but an American marine should be acting as carefully as he can with the lives of his fellow troops. Anything that he does to tarnish the reputation of the troops (whether it is a perceived insult/harm or a real one) shouldn't be taken lightly.

In other words, it doesn't matter how we feel about someone throwing a potentially dead puppy. It only matters if people believe the puppy to have been alive. Since we have as much reason to believe that the puppy was alive as not, then this soldier is in the wrong. He should have been more responsible.

Well im a soldier, and i have a puppy who means the world to me. If that were my soldier, no shit i would have chopped him in the throat. thats fucking bullshit, and illegal. Hopefully someone who knows him shows his superiors and they charge him. All US laws apply to all US citizens while abroad, even the military, even in iraq, even animal cruelty laws.

im not going to lie...that really pisses me off. How the fuck can you do that to a puppy? thats like killing a baby....

2 marines disciplined over puppy-tossing video

The U.S. Marine Corps has disciplined two Marines over a videotape that showed a Marine throwing a puppy over a cliff, the military said Wednesday.

Officials did not specify the role that each man played in the incident, which received international attention after a video of it appeared on YouTube.com March 3.

Lance Cpl. David Motari is being processed for removal for his role, the Marine Corps said, and Sgt. Crismarvin Banez Encarnacion also has been punished.

"Processed for removal" means expelled from the Marines, apparently.

About time.

I think they should be jailed, but we know how seriously animal abuse cases are taken in the States (or anywhere, for that matter).
