What I think is... opinions are a lot like assholes. Everyone has one, no one else wants to hear yours and in the end it's all a bunch of shit.

Zarth, if my thoughts are too woolly and illogical for you then I need to work on my language skills because to me they make perfect sense. hehehe...

CoyoteMike, you have no faith in the common man. Maybe they don't deserve it.

I'm off to look at naked tatted girls. Then take advantage of my surroundings as much as possible before I die.

You know as well as I do that California will always be a pro-choice state... and if Ohio wants to be "pro-life" then let the idiots live there and stew in the cesspool of middle America. Tongue in cheek, but do you know what I mean?

So, as long as things are ok in California, to hell with the rest of the nation, eh? A woman can have control of her own body in one state, but not in another?

You have just turned the corner onto dispicable.

Speaking for Middle America . . . Fuck You

Fine, and I don't think you did address it properly. I'm sure the answer is "all the commodities". So, could the stock market operate on gold-based money? Can the stock market be converted to run on gold-based money, within one Presidential term? Is RP not suggesting that the dollar would have to be revalued entirely, based on how much gold somebody (the Federal Reserve, I presume) held? Would the FR be banned from acquiring new gold until the changeover had happened (that would affect the price of the new dollar, no?)? Could the stock market function through that change? As you said, it relies on commodities - that is, things people are willing to buy. Would people still be willing to buy? (Would libertarians still be willing to buy, after this massive Government intervention in private business?)

Short answer, I have no idea. See above post. Fiat money systems fail over time. Maybe we should base the value of currency on the number of people in the country. Or awesome TV shows, we have a lot of those here in the States. Speaking of that, did you see Heath Ledger died?

Just because something doesn't make sense or isn't easy to figure out doesn't mean it's the wrong thing to do.

oH how I feel like a special Olympian right now.

Speaking for me... whatever. Sticks and stones. If I really hurt your feelings then... you're too sensitive and missed my point.

All I'm saying is you have to find what works for you personally. California has nothing to do with it, middle America doesn't either. I think anti-abortion laws can suck a bag full of dicks and that every woman, and man, has a right to do with their body whatever the F they want to as long as they don't hurt anyone else doing it and any law to the contrary is pure and total crap.

Ron Paul might be a racist. Just like anyone might be. I don't think he is. I've seen the statements that he is said to have made. I don't know him personally, but I believe he would not have made them. Someone who (says they) cares so much about personal freedoms for everyone clearly isn't being discriminatory. People are people and we all say f'ed up S at times. Call me a sucker, but I believe in innocent until proven guilty and he isn't being shown on video making derogatory remarks... it was a newsletter. How easy is that to manipulate?

My understanding is that he has not repudiated those remarks, nor has he denied having made them. Am I mistaken here?

He's denied them without repudiating them (beyond calling racism "a collectivist idea," whatever the hell that's supposed to mean).

The thing is, it was eight-page newsletter published in his name. Either he's racist, or he's incompetent to run even a newsletter, let alone an industrial democracy.

but he has a blimp, and blimps are pretty pimp.

Blimpin' ain't easy.

That is my quote for the year. I'm so stealing that.

I'm starting with this century and working backwards through the list of Supreme Court cases called "(Insert Name Of Person Here) v. (Insert Name Of State That Fucked Them Over Here)".

Or we can just get right to slavery if you're not up for the tragical history tour.

Dude. The Federal government is supposed to be a limiting agency. Do you really want a Washington bureaucrat setting laws for your state, and if so, why? In which case- if you really do, then why do we bother with States at all? It's wasteful and redundant to have city, county, state and federal governments performing the same functions.

At this point.... I'm pretending this is a zoo and that there is a sign outside the cage in your mind which says "Don't feed the idiot". Really, not even worth my time.

For the umpteenth time, Ron Paul, the candidate you claim to support, doesn't think the federal government should limit state power.

I don't really see why a Washington bureaucrat is inherently worse or better than an Albany bureaucrat. I'd usually consider the end result of those laws, rather than who's passing them, as the measure of their merit.

I will say this only once, it's 100% certain and undeniable. If Satan came up from hell and backed Ron Paul somehow got him elected, legally, a business could fire you or decide not to hire you because you were gay. Sex race etc, all still good and would be covered by laws as determined by individual states, but if you are gay good luck getting a job. Ron Paul is under the misconception that given the opportunity, individuals will do the right thing. This is not the case peole. We are sheep. Please herd us. We are irresponsible, child-like, scared assholes. As individuals, we rock. But as a country we suck ass and need to be told what to do.

Every political thread turns into a Ron Paul thread. When I was home for Christmas, my sister was reading a magazine article about libertarians and said "Ron Paul doesn't sound so bad". Tidal wave of emotion.

<feeling a bit misunderstood> I like RP because he appears to have faith in people. Is that so bad? The other candidates are oh, just a little self-absorbed. ANyway.

This wasn't fun while it lasted.
