I just came across this. It was filmed this past summer during a fit of boredom. I wrote a little ditty, Jon came up with a quick tune and we filmed it for kicks. However, I think it's relevant.

I posted up some news here earlier today, I do it quite often. Now, I've seen sillier posts. The content (lyrics bouncing there on the screen) are very relevant to this particular forum, and I think it's refreshingly satirical. Last time I checked, it's OK to do that.

Ya know, I should have just avoided posting and let your thread bask in your singular posting, but your video was just so, well, inviting to say the least. Look, it's not your video per se that makes me want to puke a little bit in my throat, it's where you decided to post it. Now, if you were some random dude not quite understanding what "CURRENT EVENTS" meant, then fine, but you've proven yourself to be a self propagandizing "troll" and it's getting fucking old. I do a political video series, I write political content, I work at home as a writer and I just happened to post a song on this thread. Now, if I'm catching your drift, I need to post up content from other writers?

It's trolling and propagandizing if I do an article and/or video on current events and subsequently post it up on this forum? Personal thoughts on things are bad and illegal here? A song about the government concerning things like the Patriot Act that is a fun way of talking about current events is a cry for attention?

You have a stick up your ass, that's the brunt of it. In our community -- the one consisting of humans in general -- it is perfectly plausible and should be accepted when a person volunteers content that expresses his/her thoughts about issues, especially if those thoughts are expressed in creative and fun ways.

It is a way to start conversations, stimulate thought and debate important issues, hopefully coming to enlightening conclusions.

You, on the other hand, just bitch about arbitrary issues such as the way in which something IS posted.

Talk about the content, stop fussing. I'm not a whore -- I'm a thinker, I devote my time to current events issues, I try as hard as I can to get my fickle generation interested in these issues via videos and interesting intonation and I strive for intelligent conversation. I am by NO MEANS trying to thrust myself into the spotlight for my own self enjoyment.

In all actuality, pal, If I were to do anything for my self enjoyment it would be to forget about politics, stop writing for a living and go get a job in a cubicle. At least then I'd be secure and able to party every once in a while.

No, you just need to post news. Some threads are silly, but I think that since you don't seem to have much credibility here as of yet and because many of your videos for news are... Well, I'll just leave it at 'your work ain't my cup of tea.' Passion and playing around can come off as attention whoring and annoying really easily. People will get on your back.

I assume you're referring to the "This Week in Time" video series. It's cool if you're not down with the content or the way it's presented.

However, the whole reason I started it is for the soul purpose of getting people interested in current events. I harp a little on some top news stories, give a take on it (something I hope will spark a little controversy and thought) and try and get the 18 to 25 drop-out, apathetic demographic interested.

I condone self-education and encourage people to pay attention to the news. It really isn't solely about the political issues being addressed, it's just a way to spark interests in the issues in hopes that the viewer will look it up themselves.

I think that doing this is very important. I think it's nothing less than admirable. And, to reach out to the intended crowd, it's important for me to put myself in that place and construct the presentation accordingly.

Changing the world? That comes through people knowing about the issues at hand. That's what I recognized as the problem, that's what I aim to change. I just want people to pay attention.

The reason I post it on here? I figured ya'll are some smart folks. I consistently hope that I'll receive some feedback regarding the content of the videos and explore different view points. Yet, all I get is flack for posting them in the first place. It's just silly.

I posted one video, which was an interview with a well-traveled Sex Slavery expert attempting to educate people about Sex Slavery in America and work to get rid of it, and I got similar comments.

I just don't see how things like that are "silly" or irrelevant. By all logical accounts, they're very important and crucial for discussion.
