This whole thing seems to be two groups of overinflated egos arguing about who's in charge. Both are paid way too much for such mediocre work. Hollywood hasn't done anything but remakes in the last 20 or more years anyway. Altho, "The Final Remake of Beau Geste" was pretty good. Can't think of anything else worth seeing. puke

"Hot Fuzz"? "Donnie Darko"? "A History of Violence"? "In the Mouth of Madness"? The original "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"? The "Back to the Future" trilogy?

There's been plenty of things worth seeing in the last twenty years worth seeing, and that aren't remakes.

And, on topic: the whole thing only seems like two groups of overinflated egos arguing if you're not actually paying attention.

hey FTR I heard a great quote about the strike last week .... at sony.

"I realize you need to get your peice of the pie, but did you have to shut down the bakery to get it?"

I think thats pretty much my opinion.

To continue that tortured analogy, do the bakery owners who would rather close the bakery than fork over a single piece of pie bear no responsibility?

No! No! It's the EVIL writers who are to blame! How dare they ask for a 4ยข raise after 20 years? Writers are greedy bastards, and studio CEOs are standing up for the PEOPLE against EVIL organized labor.

It's not just the writers losing money. I feel sorry for all the production people. It's Christmas and there unemployed because FOX and Warner are greedy s.o.b.'s. The entire thing sucks. I want my freaking shows too. Can't we just boycott Fox and Warner or there advertisers, or something? Hell, the right wing does it whenever they want something off the air. mad grrrr...

Perhaps we can start our own Studio! Red Monkey Entertainment!

I'm still hoping a couple of the writers take that idea and run with it. I'd love to see a true independent station run through the internet. Sort of like superdeluxe.com

Although I haven't seen that site so I may be wrong

The studios are stupid...but we knew this already before this shit went down. Honestly, this could be the death of television as a serious medium of entertainment and news...but it probably won't be allowed to come to that. Too bad because It would be awesome if the writers left television for other media like for instance making kick ass plots for video games...that would totally rock. But regardless of what actually happens this just really sucks for the writers, and I hope they all come out on top in this symphony of corporate fools...

Uh, yeah, because in five years there won't be a pie. We'd rather kill the entire business now, instead of dying a slow death over time. That is why we are on strike.

If you don't think this is about writers ENTIRE ability to make a living wage, then you don't know what the fuck is going on.

I don't know anyone in the industry, who's not primarily a writer, that has any more patience with the WGA. I'd love to repeat some of the comments I've heard...

You know the Guild is f'ed when they actually manage to make me sympathetic for Carson Daily.

Writers are leaving in droves. Many writers have made deals to create shows for the internet since the strike started. Seth MacFarland being the biggest name, but many others will be announcing deals soon

If the studios do not settle in 2 or 3 months, I believe the entire business will be finished.

It makes me mad that Colbert and Stewart are being forced back on the air by Viacom. I mean, it really has to suck for them, because they both voiced support for the writers at the end of their last shows before they had to go off because of the strike. Viacom just points a gun to their head and says, "you're under contract--- DO IT."

Ack.

Personally, I could care less how long the writer's strike goes as long as the writers get what they want and quite frankly, deserve, by the time it's over. Granted, for the writer's sake I hope that it goes quicker so that they can all get paid again, but it looks like the corporations are just being asshats.

And screw Fox-- I'm pissed that this is helping them. mad

Anyways... I just hope the strike ends ASAP. My nights are insanely boring without new episodes of shows and I miss The Office and Scrubs.

Yes! Fuck us for trying to make sure we can actually make a living in five years! What a bunch of assholes we are!

Try learning about what is happening, because the only people who take the side of the studios are ignorant fucking idiots.

And welcome to the world we live in month after month, not knowing whether you will be working tomorrow. Kind of a bitch, huh? I'm noticing a lot of the crew members can't handle it. We've gotten used to it.

I am getting less and less sympathetic for the crying BTL babies who make more money that we do, work more consistently and are collecting unemployment.

I've seen several different points of view regarding this subject which didn't equate to ignorant fucking idiocy. Surprisingly few of them, however, included sympathy for Carson Daly.

I would consider your opinion to be that of a fucking idiot, yes

Also, no, I do not think it is just BTL people. It is expected that many will "turn" against us. It is more expected that those who have been silent chickenshits will feel emboldened over time and speak out more and more.

And last of all, we could give a shit. We will do what is right for us, it is up to the rest to accept it.

And again, I think you are completely fucking ignorant of the facts. But then again, it's my profession, so maybe I should take advice and fear bait from a moron who is a different profession.
