This is one of the most important things about cases like this, and I can't tell you how happy it is to see someone quoting DSM IV. Not the context of its use, just the facts that it's being used.
One thing about this case is that it may or may not be true. Obvious, I know, but still, we have to remember that he might be innocent. The unfortunate thing is that kids at this age of life could potentially find i funny to do something like this without thinking about the potential consequences of their actions. The support for him shows that the community trusts him and does not think it possible that he actually committed these "assaults".

I wouldn't put my house on the line but I wouldn't condemn him either until it's proven that the kids parents didn't put them up to it as part of some situation that we don't know about. It has happened. But before any of that, are you really comfortable judging a person based on the fact that his life isn't where you would put yours? A man in his 60's without a woman isn't necessarily gay, and a gay man isn't necissarily going to molest a bunch of boys. Boat or no boat.
