But, um, what about the fuck-twats that don't know how to pay bills and bought into the "quick-fix-get- 'cha- in- the- door" adjustable rate mortgages?....I mean, I'm just sayin' is all....I seriously think that in order to graduate from high school (because, as we know not everyone goes to college) it should be MANDATORY that in your senior year, you take a full year of financial planing, or something of the sort. whatever Oh, and by the way, this comes from a someone who has not had to choose between rent and food for the sheer fact that I PLAN for times when we may be short, and I pay my bills on time!

Yeah, uh, those are the people you shouldn't be giving loans to if you are a proper mortgage company.

HA! But loan sharks, unfortunately for the last year, or so have NOT equated "proper mortgage compan[ies]" and THAT is who/what MOST of these folks are gettin' tangled up with. Again, there needs to be a class for this that 18 year olds must take AND pass before graduating. I swear to gawd!

You know what I've noticed? This really isn't the country to live in if you're not greedy. If you want to be number one, CEO of fuckeverybodybutme.com by the time you're 23, own 3 platinum edition hummers, huge house made of glass in LA (surrounded by a razor wire fence and ADT security of course) and be so rich that you never, ever get sick and don't have to worry about health insurance like the rest of us lazy fucks, you're fine. If, however, you just want to work your 40 (or so) hours a week and get by, be reasonably content and not own a lot of shit, just do your thing, you're fucked from the get-go. It's the regular folk that these soulless, money-hoarding maggots really hook by the balls and string up...Pretty soon, it'll just be: I've got mine, fuck you! Go get yours...

Just so that I may be clear: All of you money-people out there. You know, the ones that make their "living" (if you can really call it that) out of harassing people who happen to be in a bad situation because of a bad decision out of what little money they have to live with? I hope every one of you, and your families, get demon-fucked in the ass by some hellish creature with 12 razor-blade covered dicks. (And by families, I mean you, your slut wives, your worthless resource-sucking offspring, your stylish house pets and those greedy sycophantic parasites you call friends. "We're just doing our jobs" doesn't cut it anymore. Hate rhetoric? Yeah, it is. Fuck you, go get rich somewhere else and leave what's left of middle-class America alone. Fuck your parents and grandparents too, they obviously failed... puke puke puke puke puke puke puke puke puke puke

Thus spake someone who has never had to choose between food and paying rent.

Additionally, no one plans getting sick or having their car blow up. But quite often you need both your health and your car to continue working and thus getting paid, and thus paying off the debts. Nobody buys a home with the intension of going bankrupt, they buy it in the hope of actually owning it one day and getting OUT of debt.

Or having their apartment burn down for instance. And then when they go to the bank they've been with for 8 years, HSBC, since they started college, the bank they have taken out and paid off three loans with, with whom they have 2 credit cards and a spotless payment record, the bank tells them, sorry, we can't do anything to help you replace anything, help you consolidate your debt, or give you a loan so you can afford to rent a new place since you don't have a spare 3 months rent laying around to secure a new lease. Well fuck, they (myself) will be more than happy to see them fucked with flagpoles.

I would like to look at most the peoples on this posts credit card statements...if it says anywhere on them things like shoes, holidays, clothing, electronic equipment, nights out on the town..or worse of the lot...money advances..then you fucked yourself..you don't need to understand the agreement...all you need to understand was 19.5% interested compounded yearly with front loaded payments....credit cards are fucking people over?...they only fuck people over who use them unwisely...if your gonna use a credit card to buy $400 shoes when you only earn $70 per week..then you fucked yourself...did the credit company give you that card with a limit they knew was beyond your capacity to pay and also know that if you use it, it most most likely lead to you forever being in debt to them...yes they did..but we have always known they were cunts..this is nothing new...but you had to meet them half way by using it first before they could fuck you over. To the people who have used them to pay medical bills, their child's education, provide food, fix a car so they could get to work...I feel for you...but for the tits that used them to fund a wardrobe of the latest fashions, just accept that you were young, you didn't have a clue, you were sucked in and scammed and that you know better now and if you ever have children, you will teach them not to make the same mistake.

Is it compounded yearly in NZ? It's compounded monthly here. Perhaps you need to understand what compounded means.

Ok, fair enough. So let's say that you have to use that money that you planned ahead for, due to something unforeseen coming up (ie. you lose your job) and then something else happens (like the engine on your car blows while you are driving to an interview for a new job)? Then what? You can only plan ahead so much - many a responsible person has been set back by unforeseen circumstances. Trust me, I work for a bank, I see them every day.

That being said, however, I've been saying for years that there should be a mandatory math course in high school dedicated to teaching sound financial planning (or, 'real life math" as I call it when I'm teaching it to my kids), and basic information about loans, mortgages, credit cards, investments, rsp's, etc. A lot of people get sucked into the credit card cycle as soon as they hit college, and every credit card company is throwing credit at them - and they have no idea how to use it responsibly.

there are four types in this little country
1) typical..interest is accrued and compounded monthly with first month being exempt.
2) low interest, can be used ten times a year on any amount and compounded every 6 months
3)debt card..can only be used four times a year for purchases over $1000 and are compounded yearly
4)transaction debit..based on actual money and works like eftpos(electronic funds transfer payment on site.), but can be used over internet( known commonly as internet card) there is no interest on these one, the money is transfered from your account to debit card and then to retailer

Nice to play the semantic game with you.

We have types 1 & 4, more or less. The interest on # 1 doesn't accrue on purchases typically for 25 days. On some cards, however, they go back and add the interest for that period if you don't pay the balance in full. But for cash advances (not a good way to go, as you suggest), the interest begins immediately.

#4 has really simplified my life. I no longer have to drive to the bank twice a month, or worry whether someone will take a check.

I don't disagree with what I perceive to be your main point. If you aren't careful, the sharks will get you. Human nature tends to make us spend more than we make, whether that's $70/week or $7,000/week.

But that doesn't make it any less reprehensible to make a living by preying on human weakness.
