Actually as FtR mentioned, they do get food, a roof and supplies, and I'm guessing they also chose to have that job opportunity; whether it's fair is another story; maybe you could go over there and offer them a hand.
Did, uh, you just write that being treated as slaves is a "job opportunity?" Seriously?
Do you think the blacks we took from Africa for over a century looked at each other through their shackled legs on the boats and said, "Hey, it'll be good on our resume?" Is that the line of reasoning you are using.
They are being used as SLAVE LABOR. Getting food and board is what you give your dog or a horse. Get it?
Being treated like one and being one are completely different matters; If they're getting PAID, they're not slaves.
The definition of slavery is coerced labor, not uncompensated labor. There's a difference there. The fact that they
were brought into Iraq under false pretenses and were unable to leave because the company had confiscated their passports.
Completely satisfies the definition of being coerced. Moreover, this comment of yours:

P.S. when did your dog last put in 8 hrs of work?
Shows an astounding ignorance of labor conditions in the world outside your safe little Green Zone in whatever suburban cloneville spawned you.
They worked 12 hours a day, seven days a week, and made as little as $240 a month, he said. They were "verbally and physically abused" and had their salaries docked for petty infractions, he added.
So they get defrauded into going (which is not a free choice, because it's not informed), they are prevented from leaving (satisying the definition of slavery), "verbally and physically abused," and for this they earn about one-and-a-half cents an hour, assuming their pay isn't docked for some reason that they cannot appeal.
Yeah, what a fucking opportunity. They're lucky to have it.

Ya know, iraq is a crazy place. I'm a Marine that just got back from there a few months ago. What you people dont understand is what you don't see. If you haven't been there, shut the fuck up. For instance, If an Iraqi shoots at you, then goes behind a building and re-appears with no weapon, you can do nothing about it due to military law. Blackwater doesnt follow those same rules as us, therefore helping out our cause in capturing, or if need be killing insurgents. Blackwater also goes on patrols, therefore cutting back on the need for military patrols. All you people see is what on the news, which most of the time isn't true. So shut the hell up.
So by your logic, men shouldn't be allowed to discuss abortion pros/cons because they will never be pregnant, white people shouldn't be allowed to discuss the effects of racism on black people throughout American history, only politicians can discuss politics, and if you're not a lawyer you shouldn't argue against a law you feel is unconstitutional/outdated.
And here I thought you were over there fighting for our freedom. Strange.
How many vietnam vets does it take to change a lightbulb?
