Hands down the best comedy on tv last night: Bill O'Reilly trying to dissect Stephen's decision to run.

And having a "body language expert" interpret his movements to boot.

OMG Really? That must have been a serious blast. And what was his conclusion?

Bill O'Reilly really is an antichrist, isn't he?

Honestly, it appeared that Bill is leaning towards buying in to Colbert's candidacy.

He even went so far as to comment on the fact that Stephen dyes his hair...as if that should impede his chances.

I will check to see if it's on YouTube....you really have to see it.

A while back, when I was at my mother's house, FOX was on and it was the O'Reily Factor. I was not paying 100% attention, but all of a sudden what he was saying burned its way into my brain. He was making some comment about how "this sort of violence does not tend to happen at more exclusive private schools. . ." (I think it was about girl-on-girl violence.) , while the video that was running was of two girls beating the shit out of each other AT a private school (their uniformed attire as glaring proof).

What an arrogant jerk.

It's amazing; whenever I start to think satire is dead (or doubt that it was ever alive in the first place), someone like Mr. Colbert comes along. Of course, there are still people who don't understand him, or satire in general, but his vast following gives me a bit of hope.

Now, if people could only understand Jonathan Swift...

(As an aside, Minnesota does have a satirist making a genuine bid for a Senate seat. I loved an article in the Star Tribune about how there's no place for satire in politics. The writer was very serious, but I laughed anyway.)

I've never been so enthralled by politics. I kept telling my dad that there would never be a president funnier (or so much fun to mock!) as W, but if Colbert were to hit the campaign, i could totally be proved wrong.

I think it's Colbert who would be doing the mocking though.

The people he's satyring don't even realize it. And therein lies the beauty.

I love Colbert. The book's actually sort of boring, though. I'm putting it aside for now in favor of The Nine.

I've not ever really been a huge fan of his show (just don't find it all that funny, I prefered him on the Daily Show) but I've looked through the book and it is hilarious.

This inspired me to go back to the dinner video again (the longest clips of colbert since de-cabling).

The buzz wave was made to ride for a long, disenfranchised, misinformed, entertainment bred 'n starved geist. I'm entranced by his mass cultural control and darting retorts; and while many people miss his generally dispelling details, most see his daring as a challenge to the recent traditions of mutated neo-con facism. Delegacy or not, inside-outing the campaign trail was never made sweeter.

That century-old provision is2 U.S.C. § 441b, which would prohibit a corporation (in this case, Comedy Central) from donating time or money in the form of salary to his campaign.

oh, b/c this has NEVER happened before in the history of America? Hello? anyone track the campaign fundraising of the decider himself?

That's one of the main targets of his satire. His campaign coverage is being sponsored by Doritos as the "Hail to the Cheese 2008 Stephen Colbert Presidential Campaign Coverage".

... did Bil O'Reilly ever actually look at Ronald Reagan, or was he too busy sticking his tongue up Reagan's ass during the entire 1980's decade that he couldn't see Ronnie's head? That man will go down in history as the politician with the worst dye job ever.
