As amusing and entertaining as it is to see these totally idiotic people totally ruin every bit of respect they MIGHT be able to maintain from humanity, it's a little scary that they next story you might hear could be your neighbor... I'll never understand why stupid people do stupid things other than the fact that they're....well....stupid.
you couldnt imagine the number of times a day i'm told that I "need a tan" or need to go to the tanning bed, or that they sell lotion at the drugstore that will darken you right up!
By other women, right? I find it the oddest thing when a girl complains about how she needs a tan or something as it is not something I've EVER heard a guy remark about.
Not that I'm saying women only try to look good for men or anything.

also why not bash on anyone who has ever wanted their hair to be a different color. Who actually knows the permanence of that skin whitening stuff. although i think its absurd to whiten your skin, i think it should be held in the same regards as dying your hair or wearing make up. why not abolish it all.
i see what you're saying, and looking at whitening cream purely in terms of superficiality and vanity, you are right on. however, the effort to make yourself look whiter implies racist and classist issues that go way beyond wanting a different hair color, a new tattoo, or even a tan.
there are still plenty of skin lightening products on the market in the US geared towards african americans.

That skin lightening cream makes me sick. As does "tanning lotion" here in the U.S> you couldnt imagine the number of times a day i'm told that I "need a tan" or need to go to the tanning bed, or that they sell lotion at the drugstore that will darken you right up! sickening. it seems that no one is happy with their skin color. whether it be darker indian people using cream to be whiter,or white people slabbing on cream to have that "rich, dark tan." its a univeral problem in my eyes, and all of those lotions should be boycotted.
and that last lady.....un-fucking believable.
I agree. Fuck tanning beds. Why can't people just be satisfied with my extremely pale Britishness? Besides that...I burn like like dry autumn leaves. Pale people are hot anyways
As an aside, did anyone else ever mishear the L'Oreal slogan the first time they heard it as 'because you're worthless?'
I swear I did.
only on purpose, for my own amusement, usually adding, for Andy, "and haven't had plastic surgery for this look at all....no really!!!!" or Jane Fonda " and a complete sell out", where are you when your boys in Iraq needed you G.I Jane!!
The board of the Survivors' Network voted to give Tania the boot this week as president and as a director of the group. Good move. It's weird to have a crazy liar as your leader for a survivor group.
I wish people would figure out that it's weird to have crazy liars running our country, too.

Paleness is hot. I like being pale. I like pale girls.

But I see what you're saying, and I agree.
It seems like everyone is just trying to reach some genetic mean skin color....maybe the ideal evolutionary path people are trying to emulate is everyone from all races fucking and having children together.

so if darker people want to look lighter, it automaticly implies rascism? but when lighter people want to become darker, it's just simply vanity?
i'm not buying it.
to overlook the rascist and classist issues in india would be naive of me, and i'm not saying that they don't exist. i'm just saying that i don't believe that that's the underlying issue. i honestly think it's a universal idea of looking like someone you're not.
Sick said: Also, there's no current denomination of bill larger than $100 (Franklin, the only non-president on a bill), but when the $1000 did exist, it featured a portrait of Grover Cleveland.
Alexander Hamilton who is on the ten dollar bill was never president.
I remember trying some observational humor once about how Black girls were getting blue contacts, straightening there hair or getting blonde weaves/wigs and White girls going to the tanning salon or baking for hours under the sun and wearing braids/corn rows.
i'm sorry, who is the asshole fuckface in the skin cream story? Shahrukh Khan for endorsing the product? or millions of Indians for purchasing it and proliferating the point of view that lighter skin is more attractive than darker skin?
and why is finding one attribute more attractive than another racist? i'm pretty sure thats not the definition of racism. saying that lighter skin is more attractive isn't the same as saying lighter skinned people are better than or superior to darker skinned people (and vice versa). doesn't pretty much everyone have preferences concerning the physical attributes of their potential mates? does having those preferences make you an asshole or just human?
