You gots me an alternative?

It's not that hard to put some kernels in oil in a saucepan with the lid cracked until they pop. And then, you know, you can pour real butter over that business.

It tastes lots better and won't give you bronchiolitis obliterans.

And if you add salt to the oil before you pop it, it tastes even better.

I haven't made popcorn in ages. I might have to remedy that tonight.

I dunno. I had to try like, 40 times before I could pop popcorn in a pan properly (woo alliteration!) Then again, I was using a little soup kettle which probably wasn't ideal. I had to scrape a lot of greasy burned junk out of that soup kettle.

Of course, the only microwave popcorn I can find without milk products in it is Black Jewel Natural, which has no butter flavor anyway. I'm safe either way!

My company got a "visit" from the CDC this week because we make artificial butter flavor. Good times.

they won't outlaw it, they'll just require that everyone given to eating microwave popcorn sign a waiver of liability, wear a gas mask, and tell their health insurance provider.

The only way to go. We eat a couple of kettlefuls a week.

I really can't stand microwave popcorn.

I wonder about people that work in movie theater concession stands...They use that crap in movie theater popcorn too.

Also, I wonder if this is what I react to when I eat micro/movie theater popcorn.

When the story about that guy came out a couple weeks ago, it was reported that he ate several bags a day. Interesting that reports now are saying it was only two.

It may not be that hard, but it's certainly trickier than putting a bag in the microwave for two and a half minutes.. I'm also dubious about it tasting better - certainly my popcorn popper produces popcorn that even liberally dosed with butter didn't taste nearly as good as microwave and/or theater popcorn. (Well, fresh theater popcorn, which isn't very easy to come by.).

There is no comparison. It's not in the same ballpark. Not in the same league. Pan popped corn tastes amazing and that safe-on-the-shelf-for-forty-years microwave stuff is nasty and tastes nasty.

And microwave popcorn smells like shit...

I like the smell of microwave popcorn. I also like the odd little burned bits that I find in there sometimes... but then I'm one of those who likes to burn my roasted marshmallows too.

See, I was looking for a more technologically-advanced option. The whole "still?" thing made me think that was where you were going with it.

The filet is an overrated cut. Porterhouse or strip or rib eye beat it every time.

I know in my head that this is true, but nonetheless, my teeth and tongue still loves them some filet mignon.

If it isn't the little piece of kernel skin that gets stuck at the back of your throat, it's the artificial butter flavoring... Who knew it could cause bronchitis! I guess we can now enjoy the buttery flavor twice, once when you eat it, and twice after you hack up a lung from coughing. Mmmm, yummy lung butter. puke

Personally, I don't trust a God damn thing that Conagra, Altrea, et. al. makes. Do yourself a favor and stop eating their crap! Go and shop organic from a local farmers market or at trusted grocer who doesn't stock processed foods full of shit that will kill you.
