Bullshit article. Making fun of that asshole for not being verbal seems so... low. And lame. I mean, who cares if he trips and falls, bumps his head or drops a dog.

There´s a million things to say about this bozo´s presidency, but dumbass stories like this one makes just makes it easier to dismiss serious criticism.

Waste of time and space.

I can only half agree. I don't think the cue card thing is such a big deal, as far as it is SOP for TelePrompTer work. However, being President also means being spokesman for the country; he's our voice on the world stage. When our chief spokesman and symbol wrestles with the language this badly, it refelects badly on us, and makes him markedly less effective.

I will say I would feel a lot better if I knew he didn't need prompting of how to pronounce names of world leaders with whom we have important business and relationships.

Not to defend the president's intelligence, but this is common amongst all teleprompter copy. This is taught in jouralism and broadcasting. Reading text as it scrolls past on a teleprompter is a learned skill and it is quite easy to mispronounce any polysyllabic words when doing so.

I think Bush has given ample evidence of his stupidity without us needing to clutch at straws to prove it.

Nail on the head. Like someone pointed out on Digg, Conan O'brien has a habit of showing his cue cards and how they spell names out for him some times. It makes perfect sense to me.

Still, having to phonetically spell out the names of supposedly close 'friends' like Sarkozy, whom he's already met for one-on-one meetings? Kinda seems above and beyond the call of idiocy.

like, such as is "nuclear (NOO-KLEER)" on that list?

I just feel the need to point out that (NOO-KLEER) is an incorrect pronunciation. It would be (NOO-KLEE-ER). The comment is still good, though.

"Guvmunt" is one of my faves.

Anyway,

90% of the users on this website are smarter than he is.

I believe that. Money and privilege do not equal smarts.

George Bush says nuculer. So if she meant it was a wrong notation that made him say it wrong, she would have put that. Anyway, not really important. Just saying, I don't think I did.

Exactly. The fucking idiot would know how to pronounce those names after like one night of listening to BBC news. That fact that he doesn't speaks volumes.

Thus why it said, "this KIND of idiot", not "this PARTICULAR idiot"... as in, let's elect someone smarter.

And I enjoyed this article wholeheartedly. It was very amusing. Does anybody have any dirt like this on Stephen Harper? wink

Yeah, our electorate picked a doozy with Bush. But that doesn't mean the Irish should be laughing at us. wink
We didn't have to wait until 1996 for legalized divorce!

hey its not all bad. her our taoiseach (prime minister) bertie ahern 'alegedly' took a bribe in 1996 of $50000 (from its owner) to repair a house he was renting at the time. he subsequently bought said property at a knock down price from the same said owner. corruption in ireland is rife. kick backs are huge in our property boom.
puke
sorry rant over. so america is not so bad after all.

I have much love for the Irish! I was just having fun. (I'm a Roman Catholic American who's part Irish, so I know all about the ups and downs of the church.)
The Irish and the rest of Europe are certainly better traveled and probably better informed than Americans. But that has a lot to do with geography, as well.
Either way, I think sensible people in all nations will be relieved in Jan. 2008, when this knucklehead is no longer leader of anything.
