I agree that we could use that money more wisely.....but, I don't think throwing more money at education will solve anything. While we outspend every nation on education, we get very little return on that dollar. So....one could argue that investing that money in education could be an equal waste of money. Maybe....we should give that money back to the constituents? hmmm....

Show me some evidence that we outspend every nation on education.

Also, please locate the United States on
this graph of education spending in the world and let us know where it is.

your graph is based on GNP ,I bet the GNP of all the nations ahead of the US is considerably less than ours a better gragh would be one that showed the amount spent per child

Actually, that would not be a better graph. Obviously, Cuba's currency is not worth as much as the United States, just as the US's currency is not worth as much as the United Kingdom's. However, each of those countries' currency has a different level of buying power domestically than they do internationally.

Shown as a percentage of a country's GDP, rather than as dollar amounts, the graph shows how much of it's total resources a country is willing to devote towards the education of its citizens.

Wow. Just wow.

I mean, I'm a Christian (who also believes in evolution eeek ), and I find all this right-wing "devilution" (as Mike Huckabee called it) bullshit to be appalling.

I definitely thought Stargate pulled off an anti-fundamentalist bent than most others.

Wait...

You want us to spin the numbers to suit your argument? RudieCantFail already pointed out the flaw with how you argued the statistics should be shown, but I can't believe you were too lazy to even go and find the information and present it yourself.

No... I'm kidding. I can believe it.

Well, that's true. Still, there are problems with a GDP base, too. Partly because the GDP / population ration is not constant. If china spends the same portion of its GDP on education as the USA, but china has four times as many citizens, and even more than four times as many children, the conclusions based on a GDP graph would be... incomplete, to say the least. And none of this goes into the (valid, as far as I can tell) concerns about just how accurate GDP is as a measure of economic prowess. I'd really like to see both figures, and make what conclusions I can rather than using either single flawed piece.
