art photos could have easily been her, fully clothed, climbing a tree or somesuch other wholesome activity. the article made it sound like the family was worred because they couldn't find her, not because she was off having some sort of illicit encounter.

true that, Mei.

what stinks about these cases is that often just the accusation, or even the appearance of impropriety, is enough to ruin someone, regardless of actual guilt.

Exactly... This was actually already posted a little while ago, and based solely on that article people were convicting him of molestation and pedophilia, accusing him of victimizing multiple children, and being an out of control deviant sex fiend. People were saying that based on this alone he should be locked up for life.

if he had acted improperly with her, and believe it would have been impossible for him to conceal it, there would have been a real"dead show" before the authorities arrived....i think he must bed innocent of at least any outward impropriety....

Before AND DURING his marriage with his first wife, this guy's mistress was a hippy gal that I went to school with at Oberlin. I am not making this shit up, he would hang around the dorm all year when I was a freshman (6 years ago, natch). His wife would be sidestage at the Cleveland shows and then he would come out to Obie and fuck her out by the field house. It was really sad, because she desperately worshipped him as a musician and thought she was totally in love with him. Funny thing was, he would go for almost any girl on campus, and some bit unbeknownst to Ms Mistress... I thought he was the creepiest motherfucker out there.

I'm no Phish fan or non-fan for that matter, I could care less. I like all sorts of stuff but that technical jamming has no soul. Irregardless of his musical talent, I hope this fucker gets slammed at some point.

So are you saying that people convicted of child molestaion, pedophilia, victimizing multiple children, and being an out of control sex fiend are not grounds for locking someone up for life? 20 years, then, maybe?

God save me from illiterates...

Read what I wrote again.
He wasn't ACTUALLY convicted of those things, and has never even been charged with them. People *in the thread* were convicting him of all that based solely on what was mentioned in a similar newspaper article, and calling for him to be locked up (again, based only the information reported here).

No need to get pissy, Helter, your point was simply unclear to me and I was asking for clarification. Throttle back, Turbo. ANd you still didn't clarify, really. Do you think that, had this person actually been convicted of child molestaion, pedophilia, victimizing multiple children, and being an out of control sex fiend that a life sentence isn't warranted?

Maybe YOU should re-read MY post and use some decorum before calling someone an illiterate.

it has since come to light that the girls mother gave permission and knew where the girl was the whole time. The father didn't, freaked out, found them and beat the hell out of Gordon. Gordon is now sueing the father for assault. And yes, the girl had her fucking clothes on.

Yeah I did. You asked "are you saying that..." I think even you could see that my answer was an emphatic "no, that's not what I was saying".

Do you think that, had this person actually been convicted of child molestaion, pedophilia, victimizing multiple children, and being an out of control sex fiend that a life sentence isn't warranted?

Sure, but that has absolutely no relevance to what I was talking about, which was how damaging accusations like this can be, and how quick people are to assume the worst in these cases.

Maybe YOU should re-read MY post and use some decorum before calling someone an illiterate.

No really I don't have to. I already read it a number of times before I responded. You were asking if my statements meant something, which they couldn't possibly be interpretted to mean unless you hadn't actually read them, or are partially illiterate.

Let's recap.

Someone says: What sucks about these situations is that just the accusation, or even appearance is enough to fuck someone for life.
I say: yeah no kidding, this was posted before and everyone had pretty much convicted him and wanted him locked away forever based on nothing but what was in that article.
you say: so are you saying that convicted pedophiles shouldn't be locked away?

RIDICULOUS! There's absolutely no reasonable way to derive what you did from what I wrote.

Helter, I was asking you whether you thought people convicted of the crimes you listed should be locked away for life, I wasn't commenting on whether this particular person was innocent or guilty or whether this person should or shouldn't have been tried on boards like this by people that don't have all the data. It was a very direct and simple question, I thought.

Except that you weren't asking that. You were asking if that is what I meant with my statements, ("so are you saying...") you even alluded to as much in your previous reply.

your point was simply unclear to me and I was asking for clarification.

Well, we ARE talking about a biker chick at a dead concert here... I'd lay money on everyone involved being at least a little fucked up. Hell, she might have said that he could take the girl, then forgotten about it and called the cops.
