That's not a very good comparison. There is a WORLD of difference between fighting for your life...and subduing an unwilling participant in the course of duty. The difference is immeasuable.

Agreed, but the point you made was whether or not I've had to restrain anyone. The response was, I've had to do that. Of course, I didn't have a taser available, it might have come in handy.

You really don't know what you're talking about here. I have worked in law enforcement as well as corrections. That by no means qualifies me as an expert on the subject...and I do not claim to be. However...unless you've been in a similar situation...you're only speculating...and have no basis for comparison.
Also...if you read back to my earlier posts...you'd see that I am completely against using a tazer simply for non-compliance.

I was mistaken without doubt the person in this scenario looks really rough and tumble, and poses a very real physical threat. It is obvious that one well trained person would not have been able to escort him out of the building.

Okay, without the sarcasm. I do not see how 1 person, let alone 5 would need to resort to tazing that "guy". Perhaps, I am completely wrong, perhaps the obnoxious college student is really, really strong, and has a high tolerance for pain.

I have a question for you, since you do have actual experience with these types of situations. Would you have been able to remove that particular student from the building by yourself without having to use a tazer? If there were 5 of you, would you have needed to use a tazer?

I know you're against the tazer because it isn't compliant, but please answer anyway.

Without the sarcasm? I'd be happy to answer.

Like I said...I didn't see why they had to taze him either. I wouldn't have used a tazer if I was in that situation.

Do I think I could have removed that particular guy by myself? Eventually, yes.

If there were 5 of me...he would have definitely been forcibly removed without the use of a tazer.

I'm not against the tazer because the tazer isn't compliant. I am against the tazer when it is used on a suspect who is non-compliant...as in not following police orders...particularly when that suspect is not armed.

After thinking about it, I now consider you to be competent as a law enforcer. Those 5 campus security folks, fucking incompetent. A single one of them, still incompetent, but definitely not meeting what I would consider competent law enforcement.

Thanks for clearing up my misread of compliant.

Well thanks...but I am no longer in law enforcement.

Any bouncer at a local bar could have removed that guy.

What?!

I've been level-headed & civil in this thread. If you have something to say...why not say it?

It was not that. What I was going to say was based on a misunderstanding of your post. Since I can't delete a post, I just said never mind.

We need a short hand for "I almost posted something stupid but I caught it just in time."

So, um, is anyone else curious as to what Kerry's responses were?
