Wouldn't telling random people about your military security clearances be a personal safety hazard?

not really. even culinary specialists require security clearances to be assigned to duty on submarines.

Well, yeah - but culinary specialists in the Navy are actually dangerous.

That picture makes me feel a fire down below, let me tell you.

I do have to say, though, that the Coasties are some bad motherfuckers when it comes to water rescues.

Oh, I have a lot of respect for the Coast Guard, since I'm sure it's a rough, dangerous job.

Unless they insult my cat, in which case, fuck 'em.

Another thing that amuses me is that the thought of having access to secret information would make someone less of a douchebag.

Look at our top ranking government officials.

FACT: Alpha22 has gone from being a member military intelligence with access to a lot of classified material to a member of the Coast Guard.

What will he be next?

Why do you even care? I never once said i was a member of military intelligence.I did have a security clearance classified as secret to see certain messages regarding mission ops.

And does the coast guard even have secret "mission ops" anyway? Did I miss where "ride around in a boat looking for pirates, drug smugglers and Cuban refugees" became the equivalent of Operation Overlord?

Let's dispel any belief that just because anybody claims (fact OR fiction) they have a government security clearance, that they have access to "mission ops" or anything like that. You can have a top-secret security clearance and still not have to access to jack-shit. The government communications security programs operate on the concept of NEED TO KNOW. If you don't need to know, you have no access.

If anybody is trying to impress you by stating that they have a "top secret", "secret", etc.., security clearance, chances are quite high that person is a huge douche.

You are 100% right about ( need to know )
