Zarth, my friend. I'm sorry, I had to. wink

I get annoyed by trolls with apparent impunity, what can I say? If a member has never once made an intelligent or even basically civil comment, it seems there should be consequences.

Obviously, I expect too much.

I get annoyed more by the fact that others have been zotted for much less but apparently some members have some sort of bullshit "seniority" that allows them free reign for trollish incivility.

Zotted for much less than what? You don't seem to understand the policies around here. Laughing at comically verbose and pompous posts is not a zottable offense. Nobody has been personally attacked or insulted...uh...except for me.

Srsly. Nobody has done anything in this thread that was even remotely zottable.

I think people should have to pass a competance test before being allowed to have children (say, raising a dog or cat successfully for at least two years) to cut down on abusive/neglectful parenting. As far as this family goes, my main beef is with the size, because I genuinely see it as irresponsible considering the world's resources, etc etc. But apparently that makes me a moron, because this family sort of supports itself, and it logically follows that these kids will grow up to have the exact same lifestyle. Uh-huh. And it also makes me stupid, because none of these seventeen kids will definitely not have large broods when they start a family, thus perpetuating a dangerous cycle which is reflected by the attitudes in similarly large families.

While I understand the benefits of having a large family (having older siblings take care of younger ones helps them learn responsibility and child-care) I don't understand why people can't accomplish the same thing with, say, two bio kids and twelve adopted kids.

that doesn't make you stupid that you believe that. i don't think that anyone was accusing anyone of being stupid for whatever view they take on this. but a competance test does sound like a good idea haha

the planet can't sustain this many people consuming as many resources as we do

so instead of the thought process that perhaps one of these new children will find the cure for cancer, aids, or the solution to the global warming dilemma

As home schooled creationists, I kind of doubt it.

I don't really care how many kids they have, as long as they're taken care of.

it would have been better if they devoted more time to the kids they already have than keep churning them out like an assembly line? how much quality time do these kids get? cant wait to see em on jerry springer

This woman must have spent over 12 years of her life just being pregnant. Yowza.

Also, if she is making a 'Christian army' (as some people suggested), I hope little Jedidiah, Jospeh and Jeremiah grow up to become passionate agnostics, just because her reaction would be kinda priceless.
